What should I get for my first gun!?
Entering the shooting world for the first time can be daunting and overwhelming trying to figure out what to buy, what caliber, what type of firearms or action? Well There is a LOT to consider when making that first exciting purchase. Personally speaking - it comes down to: what are you going to be using it for!? Self defense? Carry? Home defense? Practice? There are so many reasons a person purchases a firearm. The intended purpose of the firearm will greatly help you choose the correct firearm for you! When I teach new shooters the principals of marksmanship, we almost always use a .22 caliber, bolt action rifle with open sites or peep sites. Leave the optics for after you've developed yourself as a good shooter if possible. You can definitely be a good shooter with an optic but you will miss developing crucial skills you can only develop with open sites. Once you become proficient with open sites, An optic will only enhance the abilities you have developed through practice. My first rifle was a very accurate air rifle and this is the same thing my kids learned on! After that they will both have their own .22 rifle and will continue to practice other disciplines with me! If you are not looking to shoot a great deal and your wanting something to protect yourself - whether that is a firearm on your person, or on your bedside table - the best firearm is the one you can operate accurately and confidentially. Specific firearms will come down to preference a lot of times and I will definatly be breaking this down as we continue on this learning journey together! Question!? What was your first firearm!?

The why...
The shooting world has been something in my life for a long long time! My uncle qualified for the Canadian Olympic shooting team and so, I guess its in my blood. In 2003 I shot for team Canada in Ontario and overseas and continued further to begin coaching and continuing my learning in other shooting disciplines! Passing on this knowledge is a passion of mine as I have coached a ton of very accomplished shooters and enjoy seeing undeniable results! If your new or struggling, Or would just like to join a community of other shooters to grow together with, You should really sign up!
