@Jessica Leighty that and n8n's memory limitations... šŸ˜†

I'll add some of my own and say first understanding how much of the process can and should be done on paper with concepting has helped my builds. I think a lot of us start with tossing nodes around in n8n and gradually sort through the process there. And I think that has some value in the beginning, seeing what works together and (mostly) what doesn't work. But just the exercise of thinking through the problem and working out all the dozens of potential ways to solve it can help narrow down to a clear path. Second, realizing that some questions are two-fold: "what kind of data do I have?", and "what kind of data do I NOT have?" I think we take for granted how much ancillary data we have as context for things. But going through the exercise of what data sets our workflows have access to and (more importantly) which they don't have access to can be a real eye-opener.
How Do You Handle Payments? šŸ’¼
Hey everyone! I’m just starting out in AI and automation and wanted to ask for your advice. How do you usually handle payments with your clients? Do you use contracts or keep things more informal? What payment terms work best for you? Do you request a percentage upfront, and if so, how much? Also, which platforms or tools do you use to get paid? Would love to hear how you manage this part of the business! Thanks!

@Peter Hollis yes, this!

@Dan Quixote yes, having a scope of work laid out is very important! It sets and protects everyone's expectations for the project.
Embeddings Node Gets Stuck - does n8n get sluggish in a browser?
Working on the cloud-hosted version of n8n (using Chrome browser), adding data to a vector store, looping through many (a couple thousand) items. Things are going well, but occasionally the embeddings node (attached to the vector store node) stalls out. Sometimes it resolves after a few minutes, but I'm currently staring at a node that hasn't resolved in several hours. The more I think about this, maybe it's not that node, but rather n8n getting sluggish and stalling while running in a browser?

AI Agent conversations in a Slack thread
I'm having issues getting an AI agent to chat via Slack with a user to answer questions in a given thread. I've successfully connected Slack and can send and receive messages. What I'd like to do is this: tag slackbot asking it for something (like reschedule meeting X); slackbot determines what to do; can reply and chat back and forth to ask for clarification within the same slack thread; when task is complete tell the me that the task is done in the thread. This way new threads can start each time there's a new item to do - instead of watching the entire channel where I might have multiple conversations going on with n8n bots.

Can you share a screenshot of your workflow? I had a few iterations of a slack bot agent before I got mine working right. Your issue sounds like something I found resolution for, but I'll have to check my notes.
Stop paying for Automation
Stop spending hundreds or even thousands on automation tools like Zapier or Make.com. There's a smarter, cheaper way to do it: n8n. Here’s why it’s better: - It’s Free: It’s free to start. Host n8n yourself on your own server—no costs involved. - It’s Powerful: Unlimited workflows and AI at your fingertips. - It’s Affordable: Want to boost performance? Pay just $7/month to speed things up. With n8n, you get the same automation power without breaking the bank. So why isn’t everyone doing this?The technical setup scares most people. But we’re here to help: 1. DIY Option: Watch our free tutorial and set it up yourself. 2. Done-For-You Option: Book a call with us, and we’ll set it up for you—completely free. The future is cheap automation. Don’t get left behind—let’s make the switch together!

So, I have a question. I hosted my own instance inside a Docker container on a professional NAS I have. Even though it was connected to the internet, the n8n image was not visible TO the internet. Did some more digging and it seemed like I needed to create a domain and connect it for API access and whatnot, so there were some costs associated there (though I'm sure it's low). Are there ways to avoid this and still be able to host with zero additional costs?

@Peter Hollis thanks, Peter! I saw ngrok mentioned as a way to tunnel but was only recommendation for testing and not production. Would you use Cloudfare zero trust for production?
