What's Inspiring You Lately
Many of you may not know that I'm currently living and working as a teacher in South Korea. And lately, my daily interactions with the kids, parents, and the culture have sparked a flurry of new ideas I never expected to come. Inspiration doesn't always show up when you're sitting at your desk. Sometimes it hits you in a classroom, on a subway, in a conversation you weren't expecting. So what's been piquing your creativity lately? Something you read, watched, heard, or experienced? A random encounter? A line from a friend? A song on repeat? Drop it in the comments. Let's see what's fueling each other right now.

I've had a weird journey of creativity for BOYLE HEIGHTS 1939. It started with a political compulsion: my sense that people are overwhelmed and under a black cloud of trauma and powerlessness which is unrecognized because our rage and anger keep us focused on today's events, every day ... all because of the inhumanity of the I.C.E. surges. So, I felt compelled to find a story to deal with that, to expose the trauma and powerlessness so we can work on healing and correcting. That story obviously required a lot of creativity.
SMART TV
Maybe I'm not the only one. I think I'd be happier with my Smart TV if I could say, "Pause, I gotta pee!" without coming back to be inundated with a dozen commercials for incontinence. I want to work on a comedy that grows from all the microphones listening to us, and who or what is doing the listening.

THE TWINK MURDERS is a Redemption Thriller. CITY OF LAKERS is a Family Sports Comedy. I am +trying+ to pitch, but have an unusually hard time (for me; I used to have "connections") finding anyone to meet with or connect with.

@Melissa Butler I'm a bit beyond that, which is extremely frustrating.

The Family Sports Comedy feature film screenplay CITY OF LAKERS is my number one, but the Redemption Thriller feature film screenplay THE TWINK MURDERS is a very close number 2. The Historical Fiction manuscript NATE AND KELLY needs adaptation and is the number 3 project.
What’s your focus project for this month?
If you’re juggling multiple ideas, pick 1 (maybe 2) projects to give extra love to this month. In the comments, share: - Title or working title - One-sentence description - What “done” looks like by the end of the month (logline finished, outline done, draft of Act 1, etc.)

ELDER ABUSE ... probably a short film. An adult son deals with the realization that his life has been crippled by the emotional abuse by his father who is now in a nursing home.
