So... Who am I and why does this exist? ๐ค
If you donโt know who I amโฆ yet โ my nameโs Hogan ๐ Iโm a licensed mechanic with over 5 years in the trade here in Canada. I come from the cold, unforgiving East Coast of Newfoundland, where we survive on snowstorms, stubbornness, and questionable amounts of maple syrup (yes, the myths are true). Somewhere along the way of fixing cars for family, friends, and now thousands of people online, I realized there was a huge gap in car knowledge โ and people were getting absolutely cooked because of it. How did I even know I wanted to do this as a career? Honestlyโฆ I have no idea ๐
I didnโt grow up in a garage, didnโt have a mentor, and didnโt even have cars to work on. I just became weirdly obsessed with cars at around 10 years old. Like recognizing make, model, and year from across a parking lot obsessed. That obsession eventually turned into my social media pages (32k+ on Instagram), where I break down car stuff in the most condensed, no-BS way possible โ because nobody wants a 20-minute explanation when the answer shouldโve been 30 seconds. The reason this community exists is simple: I love talking to people about cars. A little too much, honestly. I will talk your ear off, and at some point youโll probably regret asking me a โquick questionโ ๐ But this didnโt come easy. Being a young apprentice sucked. The work was hard, the learning curve was brutal, and caffeine basically became a food group ๐คฃ Iโve broken things, failed more times than I can count, and yes โ injured myself along the way. But over time, I stopped being just a mechanic and became a technician โ someone who thinks, diagnoses, and actually understands why things fail. Thatโs where The Mechanic Mindset comes from. This isnโt about gatekeeping, ego, or flexing knowledge. Itโs about helping regular car owners stop guessing, stop getting burned, and start making smarter decisions โ all while having fun and sharing a common obsession. If that sounds like your vibeโฆ youโre in the right place.
