Quick context about myself: I am a founder of an AI consulting business. I talk with a lot of founders on a daily basis who want to implement AI and have no clear roadmap, but they know they should because everybody is implementing these "systems" and "automations". I know as a founder it seems exciting to have systems work for you and take your time off to relax while your business runs on autopilot without ever needing you, that's the dream right? But here's what you need to know, AI does not fix your operations, it amplifies the process. Here's what I tell to most founders(you can use this in your calls as well): it's good that you want to implement these in your business but before you do, here's what you should ask yourself: (now this sometimes means I can not have them as my client, but I'd rather be honest with them and say they're not ready for AI than giving them a fake solution which only makes their operations worse). Question 1: Process Documentation Are your key business processes written down anywhere? If the answer is “it’s in my head” or “we just know how we do it” stop here. AI needs a documented process to accelerate. Otherwise, you’re just automating guesswork. Question 2: Data Cleanliness Is your core business data in one place, consistently formatted? AI tools run on data. If yours lives across five spreadsheets, two inboxes, and a notes app, the output will reflect that. Question 3: Team Capacity Does someone on your team have 3-5 hours a week to own this? No human champion = no adoption. Every time. Three “yes” answers? You’re probably ready to move. One “no”? That’s your first project. Not the AI. Hope this helps!
