My name is Matthew Schroeder and I currently live in Nebraska. I work in Denver Colorado in the behavioral health field. I work with people who are struggling with substance use disorders. I came into the field with lived experience of having a substance use disorder. Specifically I was addicted to heroin and fentanyl. I was able to overcome that addiction through cognitive behavioral therapy and building my recovery capital. That's why the addiction to the phone and the quick dopamine hit that it gives us is so fascinating to me. There are times when I found myself scrolling for hours when I knew I should be sleeping so that I could be a better person for the people that I serve. My addiction to drugs has cost me much in my life but it was something that was visible there were consequences. I believe that this addiction to our phones is more insidious than drug addiction in certain ways.

I am an artist from Prague 🇨🇿 I am painting from my subconscious mind with no perception of the outcome. Let's say that every artpiece is a freestyle... I am here, because I developed nasty habit - scrolling on my phone and having this unpleasant weight on my chest as a result. I am totally aware of the habit, but damn it is hard to break the cycle. Especially when I am active on social media as an artist. I personally do not like it, but it is good tool for connections. I feel so much gratitude to be here 🌙
