Where's the beauty in life's desert?
Today is a great day. I have a question for you? I'm driving 7 hours across the Nevada desert today. 7 hours of nothing. How do you focus on the beauty of life when You seem to be stuck forever in the nothing stage? Would love to hear your thoughts? Thank you, Blessings to you!

There is no where that is nothing. Here in the desert of Las Vegas we have sparsely covered areas, but they are full of life and color. If you are on a long drive, take a peek at the mountains, hills, lakes and coastlines that were created by God. All spectacular! If that isn’t enough, take a moment and look for the wildlife that inhabits these areas. Who created them and cares for them? What function do they play in the ecosystem? What about the cloud formations that only you will see the way you do? People a minute behind you won’t see it the same way you do because of the constant changes going on. There is so much to all of this that we can never think of it as being nothing. We are very blessed to see all of it and thank/praise our Lord for their creation.

Requesting prayers for my work situation and upcoming training. My airplane is selling and that means I will be losing my job. I know God has a plan already for me and I give all to him. Training is coming up if the plane doesn’t sell, and I hate wasting time studying if I am not going to get to continue. I need some calmness in this situation.
Who do you need to thank for your leadership?
As a leader, you must understand what you do well and know where you need assistance. Your strengths and weaknesses don’t make you wrong or right; they just make you who you are. If you’ve ever heard the saying, “No man is an island,” it was probably said about a great leader. Few people achieve success on their own.

My favorite leader was a high school social studies teacher/ baseball coach. Outstanding man, always giving everything he had to us. Coach William White, during his off periods he would be down on the field, grooming and maintaining it so that we always had the best possible field to play on. He was a Marine as well, and what he taught me was something that the Marines are huge on. Take care of your young Marines first, your equipment second then yourself third. When you enter a Marine chow hall you will see Marines eating in reverse seniority. The junior Marines eat first and all they want. NCO and SNCO next, followed by the officers. If there isn’t enough food the officers go hungry. The way it should be. It builds a great esprit de corps, and is one of the reasons Marines are the best in the world at what they do.
