Why Answer a Question When You Can Create the Answer? 🎬
First, a little credit to Jonas. His work and enthusiasm for video creation have genuinely inspired me to explore this side of AI more seriously. Yesterday, Jonas posed a question to the group. Rather than simply typing out a response, I thought, why not create one? So that’s what I did. From concept to finished video in under an hour. Not a big deal. I’ve been working with generative AI, creative prompting, writing, and visual content for quite some time. Video creation is a relatively new extension of that work, but the underlying creative process is familiar territory. For anyone interested, here’s how ChatGPT, Grok, and I put it together. 1. The Idea It started with Jonas’s question. I already had some creative ideas and visual themes I’d been developing, so I decided to translate that inspiration into a short video rather than another written response. 2. Creative Development — ChatGPT I worked with ChatGPT to develop the concept, establish the visual direction, and create the prompts. This is a collaborative process. I provide the ideas, creative direction, preferences, and feedback. ChatGPT helps translate those decisions into detailed prompts that the video generator can interpret. 3. Prompt Review and Refinement Before generating anything, I review the prompts. If something doesn’t reflect what I’m trying to communicate, I change it. I’ve learned that the quality of the instructions matters, but so does knowing what you’re trying to achieve in the first place. 4. Video Generation — Grok Once I’m satisfied with the prompts, I take them into Grok and generate the video. That’s where the written direction becomes moving imagery. 5. Review, Edit, Repeat I watch what Grok produces and decide what works and what doesn’t. If the movement, composition, atmosphere, or other visual details aren’t right, I make adjustments and generate another version. It’s a back-and-forth process between my creative judgment, ChatGPT’s assistance with the prompts, and Grok’s generation capabilities.

@Jonas Marcel Jonas, I genuinely appreciate your kind words, especially coming from someone with your experience.. And I agree with your concerns about AI and imagination. I think excessive dependence on AI can affect far more than creativity. When we continually outsource our thinking, we risk weakening the very abilities that make us human. But I’ve also experienced the other side. AI has helped me express thoughts and feelings I’ve struggled to put into words. Yesterday’s video was simply an idea relating to the truth that crossed my mind after reading your question, so I decided to express it visually. I’ve always loved combining music, emotion, and imagery. Heck, I would’ve loved directing music videos for bands back in the day! I suppose it comes down to whether we’re using AI to expand our ability to express ourselves or allowing it to replace our own thinking. .There’s a fine line between the two, and I think it’s worth paying attention to.

@Jonas Marcel Pro account with who? Grok? Not quite. Super Grok.. That’s mid tier, at best, especially w the new Grok updates. Yes it took me roughly 45 minutes i mean come on now Jonas — it’s no Emmy award winning short but i though it would be cool to drop it considering we are in a ‘filmmaking course’ .. It was my show for gratitude to you for not only showing me what to do but being a kind young example behind it. . Anyway— i was going through your acting/script app not long ago actually and I noticed in the end there was a site /website —i believe it was you promoting pushing folks to start getting a profile I mean portfolio together .. I really need a portfolio myself I believe ..even though I’m still very very new and young at this.. Too soon?? . I really would like that . it sure would be helpful. Anyway could you shoot me that link again?? I’m looking for it now in my history but I’ve had my computer off for a while cause it’s so old man. I’m afraid it’s gonna break on me. . That’s why I can’t find it at the moment but thank you Jonas. . Hey, how do you feel about AI scene creation? One can refer to it as AI video making but i prefer AI Scene Creator. . . I get the feeling you are on the fence.. no?? 🔥🙏🏼
How did you get started with Film + Videomaking?
For me it was skateboarding, the love for being outside and capturing the aliveness around me. Here is one video of that time. I am curious, how did you start / are starting / think of starting? What makes you curious and what excites you? Share it with me!

@Jonas Marcel I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I joined roughly a couple of years ago .. Camaraderie was prob one of them but me being the outsider /loner— I tend to stay away from those kinds of things. . Running into you here on Skool and talking about filmmaking was the deciding factor of which peaked my interest.
Launching of Where Have All The DVD's Gone?
Hello filmmakers! Missed me? I got great news: my film has been launched on the platform 4Flieks, a platform that distributes independent films online. My film is live and can be watched there (renting for 25 South African rands and owning it for 48 South African rands). I say all this to say that there's a link to the film platform to watch my film. Furthermore, every cast and crew member gets their own link and also with every renting and owning payment of my film, they get a share. And as everyone here knows, I couldn't have done this without you. So, without further ado, to my fellow crew here at the Filmmaking Journey, here are your individual links for the short film on 4Flieks (make sure to share where you can). @Jonas Marcel - https://4flieks.com/where-have-all-the-dvd-s-gone?a=jonas-marcel @Bridget OSullivan - https://4flieks.com/where-have-all-the-dvd-s-gone?a=bridget-o-sullivan @Abdullahi Abdulkadir - https://4flieks.com/where-have-all-the-dvd-s-gone?a=abdullahi-abdulkadir @Eric Young - https://4flieks.com/where-have-all-the-dvd-s-gone?a=eric-young Have a nice day everyone (and happy Heritage Day to my fellow South African filmmakers! Cinga
Hi everyone! 👋🏾 I’m Cinga, and I’m from the Eastern Cape, South Africa 🇿🇦. I’m really excited to be part of this filmmaking journey and to connect with people who share the same passion for storytelling. I chose filmmaking because I genuinely love storytelling and the power that stories have to connect people, inspire, educate, and give a voice to different experiences. Coming from the Eastern Cape, I’ve seen firsthand that there aren’t always many opportunities or platforms for aspiring filmmakers and creatives. But at the same time, I believe there is so much talent here and so many stories waiting to be told. South Africa has countless untold stories, especially from communities and people whose experiences don’t always get the opportunity to reach wider audiences. I want to be part of changing that. I want to tell stories from the Eastern Cape and South Africa that can reach people locally and around the world stories that showcase our people, our culture, our struggles, our beauty, and our everyday experiences. I’m here to learn, grow, meet other creatives, collaborate, and hopefully turn some of these stories into films that people can see and connect with. I’m excited for the journey and grateful to be here. 🎬❤️
