Can a necessary being be caused?
In GodLogic’s discussion with Mohammad Hijab, Hijab asked GL this question. And to many people this seemed like a slam dunk on GL. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Wanted to do a temperature check on your guys’ intuitions and thoughts here. What do you guys think?

Doesn’t causal determinism literally refute this? Saying “Allah’s will to create is not necessary” is not merely a problem of metaphysical nihilism, but also WRT Allah’s attributes and Tawhid. By attacking the necessity of the Trinity, Hijab has inadvertently undermined his own Tahwhid. Ironic too since Muslims usually are big on submitting to pre-destination.
⚠️ Dr. Ryan Mullins
Big News! We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Ryan Mullins, Professor of Philosophy, will be joining our class on May 6 at 6pm PST for a special lecture on Models of God. Dr. Mullins will be guiding us through a rich exploration of topics including divine attributes, coherence of the divine attributes, God’s relationship to time, creation, and much, much more. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with deep philosophical and theological questions, so come prepared to participate and ask thoughtful questions. See you there 🔥

At least for me, even before this question, I frequently go back to recordings of calls that I thought were super insightful. For example, I used one of them to build out my conception of (sourcehood) free will. Otherwise, I’ve been going through the “learning properly” modules as of late
LETS SEE SOME WINS
What’s been an area of progress you’ve made this week? This could be an epiphany, a perspective shift, something you read that you found interesting, or a conversation/debate that went well. Comment below 👇🏽

Finally finished my paper for EPS! 🙌Spent all week deciding what should go in the 5000 word limit 😅 Now, I just got to practice objection handling whenever I present it in 2 weeks. Also, prepping for a debate on New Testament vs Hadith reliability hosted by my Discord server this Sunday.
Today's Call Is Cancelled
Tim let me know today's call is cancelled because he is at the Bless God Summit for those of you guys joining in late.
