2nd WotD 25 January
Back from a few hours at the beach and it’s a switch to the 2nd watch bought along for the trip. My youngest chose the wedding watch. My GC53001G that my wife gave me on the day after our wedding. She felt bad as I had my mother present her a tennis bracelet to wear at our wedding. It’s definitely a keepsake and has real rose gold plating.

You can see from the photos I have had a couple of strap changes to my EcoDrice field watch. It initially came in the Sailcloth style strap in the 1st picture. I switched it to the much more comfortable Erebus rubber strap, now though I have switched it to this new Brown Leather strap I won from The Watch Bros. The brand is Dassari and I believe they picked it up from the Watch Time show in New York. I am not a fan of leather, I hate the way it shows wear so quickly, but for some of the brothers in the Watch Men I will give it a go πŸ˜‰πŸ€™πŸ€©

This is War Watch Mk1, a Billabong Surftime, 38 mm with a 20mm lug width. I purchased this in 1994 while still at HMAS Cerberus, which is the main RAN training establishment. It originally had a Velcro strap, which made it easy to take off and put on the Anti-Flash clothing when we would go to Action stations. Anti-flash protective equipment consists of hoods and gloves designed to shield personnel from the flash and heat of explosions, such as those from shell fire. This watch was eventually replaced with the Mk2 in 2013, after I grew tired of receiving shocks from it when reaching down to the back of the equipment I maintained. It is also why it is scratched up so much. The bezel is still functional, though it does require a little more oomph than it used to, and was perfect for timing between defect reports when at action stations.
