QCD
Are people recording QCDs in Redtail and then out of courtesy letting the clients know when 1099's are delivered what amount of the 1099R distribution is QCD in case they forgot since it looks like the code Y is optional in box 7

We use the Tax Letter feature in Holistiplan to remind the client of the RMD and QCD amounts.

Activity Template vs. Workflow
I'm looking for feedback on the use of an activity template vs. workflow in RedTail specifically in small offices. I see huge value in workflows for larger offices where one person takes the call from a client who requests a distribution and someone else is the one to place the trades and someone else actually processes the money movement request, etc.. Does the same value exist for a small office to use workflows? Right now I'm using an activity template with the different pieces in there and think it meets our needs but I also don't want to overlook a feature if it will have a huge impact. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

We are a very small office: 1 advisor, 1 part-time assistant (me). Sometime last year we downgraded our Redtail and lost the ability to use Workflows. And to be honest, I don't miss 'em. I updated the Activity templates to list the steps as bullet points. We mark each line "Done" when that step has been completed, and push the activity forward on the calendar as needed. I agree that Workflows can probably be very useful for a larger office, but when it's just the two of us it really didn't add any value.

Document Vault options
We find ourselves moving away from eMoney in favor of Income Lab for our planning software. We are considering dropping eMoney at some point. The thing is, Income Lab doesn't have a secure document vault for clients, and we use the one at eMoney extensively. Is there a secure, compliant service for client document storage & sharing that we should be looking into?
