SSI work requirements 🙏🏼 please
Hello Dr. Weir and ,everyone I have watched the lesson on work while on disability ,although I was confused as to if this apply for SSI too please help for I finely found something I might be able to work for mobility and my state of mind can differ from day to day! With that being said this job would be as an interpreter ,using 1090 form of tax deductions please advise on what I need to do thank you so much .God Bless

@Jackie Basa SSI does not have a TWP like SSDI does. There are other work incentives for those that receive SSI that really help. I would recommend speaking with a Work Incentives Planner like myself in your area. i suggest calling the Ticket To Work 1-866-968-7842 to help find one or your State VR office.

Medicare when disabled
When can I apply for Medicare ? They state they determined me disabled 11/7/25. Does the 24 months start from that date or from when I got my first check in May2026

The 24-months begins with the first month the person is entitled to a disability benefit payment. Medicare coverage begins the first day of the 25th month of Title II disability benefit entitlement.

Survivors Benefits
My brother was disabled before the age of 22. I tried to sign up for Survivors Benefits from our mother when she died and was told he was not eligible. She took care of him and now I am trying to help him. What should I do?

I would recommend scheduling an appointment to go into the local SSA office and asking to apply to see if he’s eligible for a disabled adult child benefit (DAC) since disability is prior to age 22. Since mom has passed away he could be eligible and ask for appointment with Title II claims expert. If they deny i recommend making sure they provide a reason in the denial letter so you know best what action to take if any after.

MEDICARE
When someone turns 60 and is receiving DWB benefits, I know it transitions to Regular Survivors Benefits. Does Medicare also stay with the person at age 60?
