Hmm... travel inspired reading??
What’s one book you’ve loved that made you want to travel?

I don't remember the title. I was perhaps 9 years old at the time, and the story was about two brothers who visit their uncle for a summer on one of the keys. They of course make a friend on the island, and the three boys then survive a hurricane hitting the island. A pretty classically structured YA story of the last century. Anyway, that story has kept alive the dream of visiting the keys, and finally found completion in 2025.
🌴 A Jimmy Buffett–Inspired Thought
As I’m wrapping up this month’s magazine—our little tribute to Jimmy Buffett—I found myself thinking about something that shows up again and again in his life and stories. For Jimmy, it was flying and fishing. Those two loves pulled him into adventures, friendships, travel, stories, and ultimately the life he built. It made me wonder… Some people are defined by a place. Some by a passion. Some by the thing they can’t not do. If you feel like sharing—no pressure: 💬 What’s the one thing you love to do that really defines you?The thing that feels like you, even when life gets busy. And just a little tease while we’re here… Next month’s magazine shifts gears and sails straight into pirate territory 🏴‍☠️Different legends, same island spirit.

In many people, myself included, the thing that we can't not do has been mashed out of us by pressures to sustain our existence 'to a standard'. So finding that thing is a reward in it's own way, and probably one with much more value than the trappings that otherwise bury our soul while existing.
📚 Paperback or Kindle?
Beach bag real estate matters. Spilled drinks happen. Sun glare is a thing. Which side are you on—and why? 🌴🍹

On KW? Kindle for me. Easy to replace if it gets lost in the surf.
Perfect Day....
If you could drop everything and escape to Key West for one perfect day, how would you spend it? No planning. No logistics. Just vibes. 🌞🍹📚

I would start with a good cup of coffee and a real breakfast. I'd make a sign out of some cardboard, grab a couple folding chairs, and hang out at dog beach for a few hours, reading and enjoying the morning. Then I'd take my sign and chairs and head to someplace nice for lunch, maybe to have a cuban from a food truck. Then I'd be off to Duval with my folding chair and sign and hang out there for a while. If I could, I'd set up right in front of the curry mansion museum. After a few hours there, I'd move down to the southernmost marker and hang out there with my chairs and sign. And as the night started to fall, I'd walk along duval and whitehead, listening to music from the various bars, and stopping when I found one to my liking.
Which Kind of Island Read Are You?
If you were stranded on a tropical island (with Wi-Fi and snacks, of course), what kind of book would you bring? Poll choices: - 🔥 A steamy island romance - 🕵️‍♀️ A salty mystery or thriller - 🐚 A cozy beach-town story - 🧭 An adventurous travel memoir - 🍸 A “book with cocktails” kind of vibe

if you're _at_ the beach, do you need to read _about_ the beach? unless it's a pirate on the beach... or murder at the beach.... or a dog's adventure... Well, maybe I need to make more choices.
