If you've been in the PANDAS and PANS Facebook groups, you see this all the time. Every one of these is being recommended right now in these groups (which is one of the best sources of information rn). Some parents swear by them. Others tried the exact same thing and it made their child worse. Methylene blue, hydroxychloroquine, antibiotics, homeopathy, juicing, zeolite, charcoal, IVIG, essential oils, low dose naltrexone, carnivore diet, hyperbaric oxygen, bee venom, helminth therapy, ozone, IVIG, curcumin, CBD oil, colloidal silver, borax, chlorine dioxide, castor oil packs, frequency machines, infrared saunas, stem cells, fecal transplants, peptides, high dose vitamin C, chelation, antifungals, plasma exchange, LDA immunotherapy, transfer factor, camel milk... 😵💫 It starts to feel like playing Russian roulette with your child's condition and your own sanity. So which one do you pick? And when it doesn't work, what then?? And why does this happen? The reason is because your child is at a different stage of illness. ➡️ Why the same treatment gets different results. Dr. Neil Nathan spent 50 years treating the most complex patients in this space. And he noticed something important. ✨The longer somebody stays in a chronic inflammatory state, the more their systems break down. ✨ The nervous system becomes hyper reactive, the immune system stops regulating itself, mast cells start firing at everything. And at a certain point, the child can't even tolerate the supplements that would help them. (Source: Dr. Neil Nathan, Non Toxic Environments interview, 2022. Full transcript available in project files. His book Toxic covers the treatment sensitivity concept in depth.) Nathan also noticed the same inflammatory process looks different depending on when it hits. In young children, it shows up as autism or developmental delays. In kids aged 3 to 13, it looks like PANDAS or PANS. In adults in their 20s to 40s, it becomes chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. And later in life, it presents as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. It's the same process with a different label based on timing.
