New Insta post
For those not following me on Instagram, I had my little boy’s first parent/teacher meeting last night. Although my language is improving, I really felt the cultural differences in their feedback. Nothing negative, just different in what they focused on and their expectations. Have any of you felt the same thing? https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSKELtSDOoD/?igsh=ZDFmOWZoaHQybDM1

@Angela Walker haha a weirdo? Let me know why! How was it homeschooling for that many years? Did your boys integrate well once they started school?
Celebrating milestones
For those not in the know, I’m half way through my second pregnancy. Having my ultrasound today, I was reminded as to how far I’ve come with my Italian (especially medically related Italian!). This time around I’ve seen the specialists all by myself and have been able to handle most of the conversations with ease. It helps sometimes to celebrate these milestones, especially when it involves learning a new language! 👇Below….a little foot to share 🦶🥰

Reflection time
The pain of the expat mother: knowing your kid is experiencing a great lifestyle in another country, but also wishing it was your hometown. Anyone else have these moments? For me in particular it’s living a 5 min walk to the beach, which would be impossible to afford back in Australia now.

@Angela Walker wow!
Lessons to learn
Well one thing you can say about boys…they’ll just keep on trying! Here’s my little one using a stick 3 x bigger than him to try and reach the oranges at the top of the tree. Life lesson reminder: never say never! 😂

Appreciating my adopted country
It’s easy to fall into the trap of constantly comparing your new country to your homeland, usually with a sense of homesickness or frustration. It does help sometimes to make an effort, however, to appreciate the little things that perhaps you’ve become so accustomed to that you forget how ‘new’ they once were. Today I was reminded how pleasurable it is to be able to pop down to the local street markets, soak up the atmosphere and buy locally grown, absolutely fresh and seasonal produce…Usually sold directly by those who grew them. It always makes me feel connected just a little bit more to the seasons and natural passage of time. 💛 What could you say is a simple pleasure for you in your new country? 👇 Post below
