🪵 Something's Coming
Starting tomorrow morning I'm dropping a full field series from the Satilla River. Seven days. Real footage. Real conditions. Real mistakes. Two pines down bank to bank. A 200-yard portage. Frozen steaks turned PBJ by headlamp. Fire on first strike in fading light. A sandbar dinner at sunset. A moon over the river at 1:30 AM. One river. Two nights. Three days. Follow along starting tomorrow. Field notes drop every morning. 🌲 Where the Map Ends, The WILD begins!! Stay Rugged.

That sounds almost as good as being there in person! I look forward to coming along virtually and being safe :)

@Rodney Thompson Outdoor Skills have an amazing time! I’ll be hitting the road again this weekend so I’ll see you when Tuesday or Wednesday
🥫 The Practical Emergency Food Prep List
Most people wait until there’s a reason to prepare. By then it’s too late. Same thinking that runs a good expedition kitchen runs a good emergency pantry. Stock what you’ll eat. Rotate it. Build it one or two items at a time. The full list is attached — water, protein, carbs, storage rules, and the build-over-time method that won’t blow your budget. Download it. Print it. Build your system before you need it. 🌲 This ties directly into Course 4 — The Expedition Kitchen. No-cooler food systems and field preservation techniques that work at home just as well as they work on the river. That’s inside Premium. @Evelene Sterling Where the Map Ends, The WILD begins!! Good tips! I bought a package of coconut milk powder.... for backpacking and also car camping if fresh milk runs out. Also love canned smoked oysters mmmm

@Evelene Sterling It's so much nicer than powdered regular milk too! Happy sipping!
🪵🌙 Evening Check-In
What’s one thing you almost talked yourself out of today… but did anyway? ✅ Could be small. Still counts. A) Got outside 🌲 B) Moved your body 👣 C) Handled gear / camp prep 🎒 D) Made a hard call and stuck to it 🧭 E) Slowed down instead of forcing it 🔥 Drop A/B/C/D/E + the one thing 👇 Where the Map Ends, The WILD begins!! Stay Rugged.

🪵🌙 Evening Reflection
Good trip. Not easy. But good. We got handed new obstacles. Had to slow down, read the moment, and solve what was in front of us. 🌲🛶 That’s the question tonight: What’s one obstacle from a past trip that taught you something useful? Could be weather. Gear. Route. Energy. Anything. Drop the obstacle + what it taught you in one line 👇 Where the Map Ends, The WILD begins!! Stay Rugged.

🔥 Day 5 — Shelter Practice ⛺️🌲
Most shelter problems don’t show up on perfect days. They show up when it’s cold, wet, windy, or getting dark. So today isn’t about a full camp setup. Just practice one piece. ✅ Pick ONE: A) Ridgeline — get it tight and level B) Fly / tarp pitch — dial your angle and coverage C) Stakes / anchors — practice solid ground holds D) Straps / hammock hang — check height and sag Even 5–10 minutes in the yard counts. Drop one 👇 My shelter snag is: _____ OR Set up time: _____ minutes Speed comes from reps. Confidence comes from knowing your setup in the dark and rain. 🧭 Where the Map Ends, The WILD begins!! @Rodney Thompson Outdoor Skills I dunno. Which one is easier? Which knots?

@Rodney Thompson Outdoor Skills I've practiced those knots sitting around camp ...but not really put them into action. Hmmm....
