I created this composition using the COPET Method!
Good morning Family! The other day I woke up feeling introspective, and went to the piano and created this composition to describe how I was feeling. In turn, I created a piece that mixes classical piano elements with hip hop elements (my two loves!) all powered through the COPET method! This is to show you what exactly is possible when you use the method to speak your inner thoughts through the piano. Enjoy! Let me know what yall think in the comments!

This is so gorgeous; layers and textures of beauty and emotion. Kudos to you, Cliff.
COPET MASTERY MONDAYS MASTERCLASS #3
Good morning Family! Today’s masterclass will be pre recorded content where I talk about “What does it mean to REALLY play what you feel”? In this discussion I touch on the importance of tapping into your emotions and use storytelling to convey how you feel about the piano piece you’re working on, and or pieces you’re composing! Please reply to this post with your questions from the video, and I will reply and give feedback to each and everyone of you. Enjoy! PS: the discussion starts at the 2:20 mark in the video.

Lovely! For the first time ever in playing Chopin’s Nocturne in C sharp m, I allowed myself to do what you do so aptly described. Many thanks, Cliff.

Hard to explain, but felt that my heart was playing it.
Composition
@Cliff Jones ok, here’s my spooky composition based off the scenario you gave of Halloween night and seeing a ghost. I’m not afraid of ghosts, so I tried to capture the eerie feeling of the moment. I’m sure there’s lots of dissonance. I wanted to try and create an atmosphere of tension and confusion like a person scrambling but not knowing what was coming around the next corner. Hope I did ok with it. I just played what I felt. It’s in the key of D# Minor

I have so many it would be too difficult! When I play Brahms, for instance, he’s my fave, until I fall in love with the next composer!
🎹 What’s the hardest part about expressing emotion when you play?
So many pianists can play the notes, but few can make people feel something. When you sit down to play — what’s the hardest part for you? A. Knowing how to shape a phrase B. Controlling tone and dynamics C. Feeling emotionally connected to the piece D. All of the above 😭 👇 Drop your answer below and I’ll reply with a short COPET tip that’ll help.
