Do I file taxes with my spouse as a dependent? Or by myself? 2. Do I get and use an ITIN for this purpose? 3. Am I taxed in my spending or my spouse’s income? For Everyone's knowledge - I phoned the IRS and requested a faxed copy of the 147c letter and it was sent to me in 5 mins. Requirements and steps: 1. Have a copy of your EIN application (you will be asked questions about it) 2. Have a secure fax number (virtual or physical). Mine is virtual @fax.plus 3. Ensure the operator that YOU are the only person with access to the fax and that you are ready to receive the letter 4. Confirm receipt to the operator once the letter is sent (you will be put on hold while the fax is being sent)
