Update on The 50K Challenge
It took ages, I know 😂 But we finally made some progress — I passed Phase 1 of the evaluation! I usually trade Gold, but this time I decided to start adding Forex pairs to my trading. That turned out to be a devastating decision. I ended up going over 8% drawdown, and that's where the frustration started kicking in. So I made two changes: - Stopped trading Forex pairs - Went back to focusing only on Gold - Reduced my risk by half, from 1% to 0.5% per trade - The 0.5% risk definitely wasn't easy. When you're risking half as much, you need to make twice as much to recover the same amount you lost. But at the end of the day, protecting the account was more important than trying to recover quickly and potentially blowing it. After that, things started to flow much better. I stuck to Gold only, stayed disciplined, slowly worked my way out of that 8%+ drawdown, and eventually passed Phase 1 while risking only 0.5% per trade. 💪 Now onto Phase 2... Let's see how this one goes. 👀

Thank you for sharing :)
Prepping for my first Challenge
This is the entry sequence I’ve been practicing ahead of taking my first challenge: liquidity sweep → price runs into a higher timeframe FVG → wait for CISD to confirm the shift → enter with opposing liquidity as the draw. Only Asia session for me since I’m working during NY session For anyone who’s done multiple challenges, which prop firm would you recommend for a first one? Looking at FTMO but open to suggestions if others have had a better experience with rules, payouts, or support. 🤝

Absolutely, I think it’s a good model for trading. What’s even better? I actually use it myself. I’m still learning and building my knowledge, so for now, it’s still a fairly basic approach. My main problem is fear — specifically, the fear of making a decision when taking a trade. That’s something I’m constantly working on. My process is mainly: BIAS → KEY LEVEL (Session Highs/Lows, HTF Highs/Lows, HTF FVG) → wait for a reaction from that key level (for example, a 5M/1M FVG) → ENTRY Things haven’t been going that well for me lately, but I’m doing my best to finally understand some of the market’s behavior and why certain things happen. Using this approach, I managed to pass an Evaluation, but I lost it because of my own mistakes. It was a typical entry without properly understanding what was happening in the market at that moment. I think the most time should be spent working on psychology.
Let’s spill the psychology secrets 👀
What’s the best trading psychology advice you’ve heard, and actually trade by? For me it’s understanding that my job isn’t to make money today, it’s to stay aligned with reality and protect the quality of my decisions. Emotional regulation has helped me a lot with this. The more regulated I am, the more present I become the less I project fear, hope or urgency when trading and the easier it is to simply trade what’s actually there and not what i hope to be there, or feeling unresolved tension in my body. For me, good trading is more about staying clear enough not to distort or project your desires into the market. What’s your thoughts on this and what did you have to overcome to become a better trader? 😁

I think we probably share a very similar perspective. Staying calm and maintaining a clear mind is essential if you want to develop a trading style that actually works for you. Your strategy has to work together with your mindset and psychology. Stress and the need to find a solution are natural human responses — that's simply how we're wired. But trading requires you to maintain clarity of mind, and I completely agree that this is one of the most important things. When I first started trading, I constantly heard people talking about the BEST STRATEGY in the WORLD, but hardly anyone talked about psychology. Over time, I’ve realized that psychology is probably even more important than the strategy itself. As for me, I’m honestly still not the best at dealing with it, but I’m trying to manage it as well as I can. I like to clear my head before and after trading — taking a cold shower, playing a game on my PC, watching some Instagram Reels or TikToks, basically just doing something that takes my mind away from trading for a while. The mindset that resonates with me the most lately is: “Your next opponent is YOU.” At the end of the day, we’re constantly making decisions in a battle of me vs. me, and nobody else. Feeling pressure is completely natural. Learning how to deal with that pressure, recognize your weaknesses, and overcome them is a completely different challenge. I think that's one of the biggest things I'm still working on.
Practice long entry
Another practice entry. I’d really appreciate any corrections if something is wrong 🙌🏼
