The Three Little Pigs of College Recruiting (Observer Group)
Hey Everyone. As I go through my 12 families paid training the number one thing (not surprising to me) is once again the recruiting issues and in the class of 2026 it was very murky (some other private coaches told me their students as a group were down as much as 60 percent just this season in scholarships) and now moving forward with the DSA (Designated Student Athlete) from Judge Wilkins House Ruling the Roster cap is drastically going to change and I doubt if any (after this year) PWO's will be "offered". Over the past few years we’ve watched NIL, the transfer portal, and recruiting change faster than at any point in college sports history. But the truth is that most parents are trying to navigate a billion-dollar system with almost no information. Meanwhile three groups seem to be doing very well. 🐷 The NIL ā€œexpertsā€šŸ· The NCAA machine🐷 The lawyers writing the contracts Parents are the ones funding the system — travel teams, camps, showcases — yet they often receive the least amount of real education. And if you have not checked out our Parents FREE Course you should since it addresses many of these issues. If you haven’t started the course yet, begin there. Discussion Question Which of these ā€œThree Little Pigsā€ do you think causes the most confusion for parents right now? 1ļøāƒ£ NIL Experts2ļøāƒ£ NCAA3ļøāƒ£ Lawyers4ļøāƒ£ Recruiting services & camps
Big News All 12 slots are filled...
Everyone, As I had mentioned over a week ago, we are putting our "one to one family recruiting" in place and am excited to see how we can continue to serve family members as we have these past 5 decades to deliver what we know to be the most challenging piece for the families due to NIL, and the Transfer Portal effecting your high school athletes. With that said, (as promised) I will still be doing some posts here on SKOOL every once in awhile for those of you in the "observer" space. But my efforts are focused on those who have asked me to assist them on this Chaos on the High School athletes by the NCAA. The other exciting news is We’re making our content more accessible by introducing a new mid-tier membership. Introducing the Premium tier at $9/month (or $99/year) This gives you access to: āˆ™ All Masterclass Calls On Demand that I will be sharing. āˆ™ The Player Development Framework for Your Student-Athlete (Yes, Exercises they will need to do) āˆ™ How to Coach Your Athlete for college Recruiting Course What this means for existing members: Current observer members keep exactly what they have now, nothing changes for you. This plan will start Monday March 30th. New: Pay-As-You-Go 1-2-1 Coaching Book a one-off 1-2-1 session with myself for $99, no subscription needed. Any questions drop them below. Finally, there is no waitlist over the next 6 months! When this first group is finished I'll open this up again for those who may need help.

šŸ”µ Upperclassman Families: When It Starts Getting Real
If your athlete is a Junior or Senior, the recruiting journey feels different. The clock is louder. Maybe a teammate is getting attention.Maybe your athlete’s phone is lighting up from camps.Maybe you’re hearing about NIL and roster changes.Maybe you’re quietly wondering: ā€œWhat about us?ā€ This is usually the moment when emotion replaces evaluation. Comparison replaces clarity. And urgency replaces structure. Over the past several years, I’ve seen too many families mistake attention for opportunity. Mass camp texts.Automated messages.ā€œLove your film.ā€ā€œWe’ll be offering in your class.ā€ Recruiting today is layered, competitive, and strategic. It requires maturity. It requires preparation. It requires parent and athlete working together. When a family gets serious with me at this stage, I tell them: ā€œWelcome to the journey. Buckle up.ā€ Because this stretch — Junior through Senior year — is where decisions carry real weight. This year, I’m opening a structured 9-month Upperclassman Advisory. Bi-weekly strategy calls.Parent + athlete involvement.Clear evaluation. No hype.No shortcuts. Because this requires real attention, I’m limiting it to 12 families. Not for exclusivity. But because I refuse to dilute the guidance. If you’re ready to approach this final stretch with structure instead of emotion, send me a DM with: NorthStar And we’ll take the next step. — Coach Nolan

Underclassman Families: Build It Right Before It Gets Loud
Over the past few years, I’ve spoken with hundreds of families navigating today’s recruiting landscape. And here’s what I’ve learned: The families who struggle later usually didn’t lack talent. They lacked structure early, and honestly knowledge of this recrutiing landscape. If your athlete is in middle school, freshman, or sophomore year, this is the stage where things feel simple. How hard can this whole college recruiting be? You’re hearing about camps. You’re seeing rankings. You’re watching social media. You may even see another athlete on the team getting attention. And it’s easy to think:ā€œWe’ll figure it out when it gets serious.ā€ But recruiting today is louder than ever. More camps.More showcases.More exposure.More noise. And the best way to handle noise later…Is to build structure now. Underclassman years are about: • Academic habits• Physical development• Honest evaluation• Communication maturity• Parent + athlete alignment Not hype. Not offers. Not ā€œphone blowing up" from fake offers and "What's Up My Dawg" posts When a family gets serious with me, I tell them: ā€œWelcome to the journey. Buckle up.ā€ Because this road is longer than most people expect — and building it correctly early makes the ride smoother later. If you’re in the Underclassman stage and want to approach this journey with maturity and structure, stay tuned. And if you’re an Upperclassman family reading this… I’ll be sharing something specific for you next. — Coach Nolan
