Which oil to use??
So I have a freshly rebuilt 6.1 stocker from Rob. I also have a new compound setup installed for Diesel power source. I went with the ball bearing turbo and vgt option and the instructions clearly state that the turbos need a full synthetic oil. From what I know synthetic is not recommended for a proper break in on the engine. Suggestions please

Clutch not happy
12 Valve 5.9, HX35/S475 (171702) Dynomite Diesel Stage 2 Power Jet Injectors, PPump set at 480cc. 60 psi manifold pressure, NV4500. Well, this weekend I found the limit of my clutch. 5th gear, powerbraking at road speed to build boost, ran right through the clutch. Does this mean I am making more than 450 hp and 1000 ft lbs of torque?? That is what the clutch is rated for. I had thought a couple of days prior I felt it slipping in 4th at WOT. I guess that was the case....

Paper gasket vs Gasket Maker
For Rear Main Housing, and Front Gear Box (not the outer cover), is anyone using permatex or RTV, instead of the paper gaskets? I think the seal would be better and hold up longer, but also seems tricky to pull off the right way. Thoughts? Thanks, SW

I’m sure rob uses this stuff. I have also with good results
Organic triple disc?
I really want to stay away from a ceramic clutch. Most people are suggesting at my power level of around 600hp that a ceramic dual is what I should get. I hate a grabby clutch. Anyone run a triple organic clutch?

I talked to the guys at long range gear and have decided to go with the valair quiet dual disc organic clutch. They are currently on back order but xdp had one in stock so I should see it in a week or so

@Robert Winkworth never thought of them. I got one coming though. Last piece of the puzzle 😁

Believe me I understand the frustration. Been there more than once

The only way to avoid that is give it a bridge coat. Essentially a couple of really light coats then you can wet it out again. If you spray it wet on your first one it gives the solvent to much time to soften and wrinkle the dry stuff underneath. Light coats dry fast and you are good to go
