Welcome to Mindful Gardening! 🌱
I'm Mercedes, your host. I hold an RHS Level 3 Distinction in Horticulture and I'm also a somatic practitioner — which basically means I'm equally passionate about what grows in the soil and what shifts in your nervous system when you slow down and pay attention to it. I created this space because I believe gardening is more than a hobby. It's a path to feeling calmer, more present, and more connected — to nature and to yourself. Here's what you'll find here: 🌿 Seasonal growing guides and practical gardening tips 🌿 Mindful practices you can take into your garden or outdoor space 🌿 My own garden transformation — from total mess to something beautiful, all on a budget 🌿 A warm community where dead plants are welcome and perfect lawns are not required This is a space to share what you're growing, what you're noticing, and how the garden is making you feel. No pressure, no performance — just soil, stillness, and good company. Introduce yourself below! Tell us: 🪴 Your name and where you're based 🪴 What your garden looks like right now (honestly!) 🪴 One thing you hope to get from being here So glad you're here 💚

Hi my name is Luna. I have always shyed away from gardening because I tend to kill plants when people give them to me. I am been considering doing it anyway as a mindset shift but also because I just like the idea of working with plants. I was given some Iris and planted them in my front yard last year. I trimmed them last fall and didn't really expect them to grow. But they did. I hope they will bloom. I honestly need to clean up their space as of yet but my partner's mom is in the hospital, I work a lot and am starting a business so I have a bit much on my plate. Also its Michigan and the weather has been "interesting" lol. I was given a grow light for our basement for me to try a small indoor garden but I have so much I don't know and the only thing I am certain on is that I want to grow organic herbs and veggies in there. I originally wanted to do them in the backyard but there isn't much space. We shall see. I think mostly for now I will poke around this group and check out what other people do and look at the info. Thanks so much. I found this group because of a link in the Somatic lab and this place seems more inviting then FB. 🌙
