Numbered positions?
Recently got into a debate with a coach on using traditional numbered basketball positions for coaching 1 point guard 2 shooting guard etc. What are the benefits? What are the drawbacks? Is that old school? Have we modernized to new language? Should we still use it or not? What does SAVI think?

@Mark Cascio @Hannah Busenitz -- i've used non-traditional names as well. I think it gives you an opportunity to define the role without competing ideas in their head.

🏀 The #1 shooting flaw I see in young players (and the fix)
Off-season is shooting season. And making shooters better isn't as hard as people think — you just need the right lens. Here's the move that changes everything: → Position 1 (load): hips down, chest up, ball loaded near the middle of the body → Position 2 (the magic move): lift the ball to two without firing the hips → Position 3 (release): push down on the floor as you push out on the ball Most young shooters lift the ball and the hips at the same time. The hands and hips are linked by a chain — and the whole game is breaking that chain. Down at two = power transfer. Pushy and inconsistent if not. Watch the breakdown! Coach-Player dynamic (High School)
Hi Savi team. I've recently gotten into debated regarding Coach & Player dynamics in today's world (As we know, today's generation of kids are different with social media and how they interact with authority. With the context that everyone's situation is different. Here are my questions. 1) What are your thoughts on Coaches playing online video games with their players- Assistants specifically. 2) What are your thoughts on Coaches taking a select few players to outings- Grabbing lunch, going to the mall, going to other games together, etc. Not as a team- only with "their guys" 3) If you were a Head Coach, and your staff was participating in things like this, how would you approach it? Part of the debate is that Coach-Player relationship can sometimes be stronger with this dynamic as it builds trust and rapport, while another side of the debate was that it blurs lines and that accountability becomes harder to enforce.

@Clare Murphy's list is spot on. You'll prevent 99% of issues with those 3 non-negotiables.

@Austin DeNoyer how will you teach/coach it differently next year?

@Travis Arkwright do you stat this yourself? What's your system for data collection? Seems like you have a good one.
Strength and Conditioning
Coaches, I’m a Division 1 basketball strength and conditioning coach and I’m working on building a new S&C course for coaches. I want this course to actually solve problems coaches face every day. So I’d love your input. 🏋️ What would provide the most value to you? What topics would you want covered? ❓ What questions do you have about strength and conditioning? Programming, in-season training, injury prevention, mobility, recovery, etc. 🧠 What problems are you trying to solve with your players? What do you wish you understood better or had a clear system for? Drop your thoughts below. The goal is to build something that truly helps coaches and players get better.

Like what KJ shared above. This is an area I'm not an expert in but believe it's important. What I would love is a clear roadmap to follow for the various ages and stages (suggestions below): - 10-12 year olds - 13-15 year olds - 16-18 year olds Outlining what the focus should be an giving a program to follow for those ages/stages.
