Okay, with some trepidation, let's do a TEST for this online class thing
I will GO LIVE this evening at 6:00 pst and, if you are able and so inclined, please join me. I think we worked out most of the bugs but the native live-streaming on the Skool platform is still Martian to me. If I can get some members to join me, I can test out the capacities of the platform, such as selecting a specific member and putting him or her sort of center stage (should a member want to ask a question or be critiqued on executing a particular technique). I also want feedback on video and audio quality, of course. Then, I thought we could have a bit of an open forum – get to know one another and definitely talk about what you're interested in and hopefully excited about learning from me. Of course, Murphy could crash through the proverbial wall like the Kool-Aid Man and reveal all the technical issues we have yet to solve. If that happens, I'll take it in stride and set about fixing any issues he shows us need fixing. Presuming we have, indeed, solved most of them already, though, I'm excited to just get started with it. Again, tonight – 6:00 pst, just for an hour or so. I'll have a student with me if anyone wants to explore any technical questions. I hope you'll join us. And please let me know if you intend to.

Speak up
One of the community members who saw my Call to Action reached out to ask a perfectly reasonable question: What happens if we don't reach 40 paid members... what do the people who pay get then? It's funny because I can almost feel that same hesitancy coming from the entire community. We've had a few more join the free tier since yesterday but only one member upgraded to the $37 tier... one. I put this coming Wednesday out there as a sort of kick in the behind, hoping against hope that I could get people to make the leap. One did. So... if you want to see a weekly class happen and you want to be a part of it, I need you to speak up in here. There are almost 70 members. Talk to each other! I will post the number of upgrades here every day, if you think that will help to get people signing up. As to what I'll do if the 40 doesn't happen... it's simple: I'll assume there is not sufficient interest in training with me and I'll refund the payment to anyone who endeavored to make it happen. I'm at the fork in the road with this. I would love to get a class going and see it take off. But I'm also ready to abandon this whole community thing if the members don't actually unite as a community. If that turns out to be the case, I'll offer some one-on-one training to those who paid for a full year and I'll close the community and leave it open only as a portal for my online courses. If you'd like to see classes happen, speak up and say so, and get your fellow members to upgrade. We can start this Wednesday or next if they do. – M

I'm in as well! Just a little about me (sorry if this is long). I have been studying FMA on and off since 1996 in Hawai'i under Maestros Mike del Mar and Jacques Abellira. Then when I came to LA in 1997, I continued training under Maestro Jacques Abellira. In 1999, I sought out training at the Academy (IAMA) with Guro Dan Inosanto and other instructors like John Spezzano, Marc Denny, Nick Papadakis, Vic Gendrano Jr., Willie Laureano, and Burton Richardson (when he was in town at IAMA). I still training at IAMA when I can especially the summers. I really like this platform and already have knowledge of the curriculum that Guro Mark has put together. I completed the Sumbrada course that Guro Mark has under the previous Fightology LMS (Learning Management System) and the curriculum and content was exceptional and learned a lot! I love learning FMA and love learning from everyone as I believe we all have something to bring to the table. I am a Chef-Professor and teach FT at one college and an adjunct professor at 4 other colleges this semester so I got super busy but my goal is to get back into the swing of things by doing this. I also am a big believer of the martial arts community helping each other and motivating each other. Sometimes I feel like I need this a lot of times too! LOL... so I just signed up for the Premium plan as a dedication to me learning even more from Guro Mark and from you guys! I can't wait to train with you guys! Online Classes
My interest is starting this Skool was to reach out and share my FMA knowledge, insights and experience with people who could not otherwise train with me. I have a brick-and-mortar school here in Los Angeles and it’s set up well to do online classes. My thinking was to have a weekly or twice-weekly class that is specifically targeted to the Skool community. Additionally, Skool members would have access to the growing library of those recorded classes on the Skool platform. I would have a few students in the physical school during those classes, both to demonstrate with and to put to task practicing, so that the Skool members could observe direct instruction. Anyway, that was my interest and intention in starting this Skool community. Unfortunately, the so-called “freemium” approach has resulted in 99.9% of my Skool community members choosing and remaining in the “Standard” tier, which is free. Teaching FMA is my profession. My knowledge and 60 years of experience have value. I do not give them away for free. Hence, if you would like to see the weekly or twice-weekly class happen such that you can take part, I need you to become a “Premium” paying member. Everything is ready to go at my end and I would love to get started. So, speak up. Tell me if you’re interested or tell me you’re not. If I don’t get at least FORTY (40) Premium subscriptions by the last day of May, I will abandon the idea of offering online classes.
