What does the top of your website actually say?
We’ve all done it. We get so deep into our own branding, our mission statements, and our business philosophy that we forget the golden rule of online sales: If you confuse them, you lose them. I had the privilege of running a few deep-dive store audits for some brands this week, and I noticed a massive, recurring theme. Founders love using poetic, ultra-creative slogans right at the top of their homepage. Things like: "We craft elevated synergy for the modern lifestyle." It sounds beautiful. It feels premium. But here’s the cold truth: The customer has absolutely no idea what you are actually selling. Are you selling luxury couches? High-end coffee beans? Activewear? When a stranger lands on your website, their brain instantly tries to answer three questions in under 5 seconds: 1. What do you sell? 2. How will it make my life better? 3. What do I click to buy it? Open up your website on your phone right now and look at the very first sentence. If a total stranger saw it without looking at your product photos, would they know exactly what you do? Drop your current homepage header in the comments below, let’s do a quick, zero-judgment audit on them and see if we can make them clearer! 👇🏾
