Thinking Thursday!
@Jenna Kelly I finally did it first thing! The Thursday reveal is here! Thinking Thursdays are about critical thinking skills, Worldview and taking time to discuss thoughtfulness. It's a day to slow down and think through all the crazy of the busy homeschool life and re-set. We would often put some poetry into Thursdays and art because it helped us to process what we were working through. In the older years Thinking Thursdays were also days to discuss philosophy and psychology.🤔

Math Monday
If I’m being 😇honest, Math✖️➗➕➖🟰 was my most 😬anxiety producing subject when I attended school…by far! However, it is one of my favourite 😍subjects to teach. What happened ⁉️ I took a deep breath and relearned Math from the perspective of my kids👧👦. I really didn’t want them to have math phobia and I wanted them to feel the 💡wonder of discovery. What did we do? Well we 🏁started from the beginning (I had math gaps due to moves) and we took it slow🐢. I have a few favourite Math curriculum that we have used (more on that another Monday) but what made the biggest difference was taking the time to master each concept. What has your Math journey been like❓

I liked learning math. Hated teaching it. Went through something like 5 curriculums before landing on what has finally worked with my youngest... offline textbook that he completes and uploads for a homeschool teacher that isn't me to grade! I still like math but have never figured out how to make it enjoyable to finish for my kids and as a result it's been a source of stress our entire homeschool journey!

@Edna Latone absolutely!! Outsourcing has been an incredible journey for my youngest two and I wish I had been open to the idea for my third as well. Hindsight is 20/20 :) For me, it's been a variety of things but having to re-teach myself how to do something before I can help the kids has been one of my biggest frustrations... finally clued in that if I use ChatGPT to teach myself how to do a problem, I can then teach it to my son and that was a gamechanger last year!

I put in the best option for what we did when I was schooling all five of mine - we used AmblesideOnline so not completely open and go and the curriculum side was o line for me to download etc but books and nature study and circle time were the foundation of our days for years and years!!!

@Edna Latone that was one of the foundations of our homeschool - usually not a formal style nature study, but getting outside in nature on Friday mornings with friends was an absolute staple!!
Balancing homeschool and Skool
Ok, all my Skooling homeschoolers, this is the dilemma. I very easily get absorbed into my projects that I'm working on. Right now there are so many things. Building my community, making digital templates, making patterns, networking on Skool, trying to make social media content.... everything is just being pulled in so many directions. But I don't want my kids to be put on the back burner. With 5 of them at home, that is another whole set of busyness. How do you make sure your kids get everything they need when you get really busy?

@Edna Latone I followed Charlotte Mason's philosophy and absolutely LOVED her ideal of creating a peaceful, wonderful home atmosphere.... And that was REALLY difficult to maintain when I first started building my business... If I could change anything, focusing on the atmosphere and ensuring it was what I prayed and hoped it would be would be my first priority cause everything else flows from that.

@Jenna Kelly I wonder if you proactively checked in with them about whether there is anything they wish could be different about your homeschool and life right now if they would open up - sometimes things are simmering under the surface until they blow up... Not saying that's the way it is, but being proactively aware in this will only bring good as it's easy to be distracted and not recognize what's simmering if you have quiet children who don't rock the boat :)
