In honor of the Nuggiversary (4 years today) here are some homemade dog biscuit recipes: Cheese Dog Biscuits 1 cup rolled oats 1/3 cup margarine 1 cup boiling water OR BEEF BROTH 3/4 cup cornmeal 2 teaspoons beef broth granules (if not using actual broth) ½ cup milk 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 egg, beaten 3 cups whole wheat flour Directions/method 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). 2. In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, margarine, and boiling water. Let stand 10 minutes. Grease cookie sheets. 3. 4. Thoroughly stir in cornmeal, bouillon, milk, Cheddar cheese, and egg. Mix in flour, 1 cup at a time, until a stiff dough has formed. 5. 6. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in additional flour as necessary until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutter and place 1 inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets. 7. 8. Bake 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Cool before serving. Store in a loosely covered container. ______________________________________________________________ Peanut Butter Banana Dog Biscuits 1 egg 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup mashed banana 1 tablespoon honey 1 cup whole wheat flour ½ cup wheat germ OR oats Directions / Method 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). 2. Lightly grease a baking sheet. 3. Stir together the egg, peanut butter, banana, and honey in a medium bowl. 4. Blend thoroughly. 5. Stir in the flour and wheat germ; mix well. 6. Turn dough out onto a floured board and roll to 1/4 inch thick. 7. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter, place on prepared baking sheet, and brush tops with egg white. 8. Bake biscuits in preheated oven until dried and golden brown, about 30 minutes, depending on size.
