You are no comparisons to anyone.....
You are the soul writer of your songs, and need no comparison to any other artist or song. Your individuality puts you in your own place, class or signature of style to be completely unique and your alone... Keep tapping into who you are to put it into a melody and song... You are the the only one who can do you the best!!!

It's the same as performance. No one can be you but you, so you can be 100% in your show which is what people want. YOU!! AUTHENTIC!!
These are some of the best tips to writing..
Sandy Ramos, knows songwriting and has written hits for Dixie Chicks, Anne Murray and Kenny Rogers, all of who are probably most of you won't know. But this gives you her level of expertise in writing. Mostly Country, since they are story songs , mostly. These rules are used across the songwriting circuit with other teacher, replicated and added to. Always good to know and to embody in your writing!!! Have at it? (she told me I could share all this)
Writing lyrics to keep interest
Lyrics are conversational, meaning if you were to take your lyrics and speak them to someone, face to face, they would be clear in saying what you want to say. Face to face, and naturally. This is why I promote, speaking from the heart in your lyrics. It , is authentic and is easily heard and relatable by others. Try this in your next writing session or when ir comes to you to write. As a line comes to you it can lead you the next one, easily because it’s from the heart. Sharing moments in time about your situation, or reflecting what just happened in your relationship is a good start to "telling " someone in a lyric. Melody enhances the message. Next we will talk about how melody fits into all this, because that is "key" ...lol

What's your favorite SONG and why?
Let's get to know each other! Comment below sharing your favorite song, from the charts or from a movie. Share why it is. It's hard to pinpoint one song, actually since songs can bring up different emotions and memories. For this exercise, choose one that had impact on you. My one favorite fun song (one of a few) "The Rainbow Song" written by two guys to help Kermit have a moment in the swamp. Inspired by muppet creator, Jim Henson to Kenny Ashor & Paul Williams, who turned out one of the most iconic songs of our times. Here is the interview with Paul Williams, who has been a prolific writer in my generation and now the CEO and president of ASCAP, one of the biggest PRO ( Production rights Organizations) in the Us and beyond. https://youtu.be/ka2DTKjrknc?si=i6aLXOfxQ-Qh2Mty Share what you got out of this. You can have serval favorites, just knowing why helps you understand yourself and as songwriter...Be well, live well and write well....Lisa

Paul Williams says, and I agree, that in writing a song, it is spiritually divinely driven, much like living in gratitude, the heart and head align and love comes out in words....It is of us and from us at the same time. We are the gift...
