🚨 The SAVE Act Isn’t Just Policy… It’s Personal I just watched a video breaking down the SAVE Act, and let me say this clearly: This is being framed as “election security”…but the real question is who is being secured out of the process? The SAVE Act would require proof of citizenship (like a passport or birth certificate) to register or update voter registration. Now on the surface, that might sound reasonable to some people.But let’s slow this down for a second… 👉 Millions of Americans do NOT have easy access to those documents👉 Names don’t always match (marriage, divorce, cultural differences)👉 And guess who is most impacted? Black communities.Elderly voters.Low-income individuals.Women who’ve changed their names. This is where policy meets real life. Because when you create extra “steps,” you’re not just organizing a process…you’re deciding who has the capacity, time, and resources to participate. And we’ve seen this play before. Not loud. Not obvious.But quiet barriers that slowly shrink access. 💭 Let’s talk about it: - Do you think this is about security or restriction? - Who do you believe will be most impacted by this? - What feelings came up for you watching this? This isn’t about telling you what to think. It's about making sure we’re thinking deeply. Because policies don’t just live on paper…they show up in people’s lives. 🖤
