Guys, you are studying Spanning Tree Protocol so much, but why do we as network engineers care about it? Why do we actually need Spanning Tree? Explain it to the community as if we were all 6-year-olds and our lives depended on understanding the purpose of Spanning Tree. π
Hello everyone, Spanning Tree was invented by Radia Perlman in 1985. I now also know that you set the root ID separately for each VLAN.I now also know that the root ID is set separately for each VLAN. Spanning Tree ensures that frames (Layer 2) are not sent endlessly in a loop. If Spanning Tree were disabled, it would cause the switch to become overloaded due to loopbacks, which in turn would lead to all connected ports no longer functioning reliably or even not functioning at all.
