The Simple Secret to Finding Your YouTube Niche
Finding your niche is honestly one of the hardest parts of starting a channel. I changed my niche at least 7 times before I landed on what I do now (helping people start and grow their YouTube channels). If you’re struggling to find yours, I want to help you get there faster. FYI, I have a full Niche Finder course in the classroom if you want to check it out here: https://www.skool.com/woodys-creator-lab-7885/classroom/6ba048f7 In the meantime, here are some questions to get the wheels turning. Drop your answers in the comments and let’s figure this out together! 👇 - What kind of YouTube videos do YOU like to watch? - Why do you like those types of videos? - Are they something you think you could make? Why or why not? - What are 3 things you’re really good at or very knowledgeable about? - What do people come to YOU for advice on? - What is something you get paid to do that you have real experience with? - Is there a problem you’ve already solved that others are still struggling with? - Could you talk about your topic for the next two years without running out of ideas? - Who would your ideal viewer be; what does their life look like? - What would you make videos about even if nobody watched? 😅 Think on these! Write down your answers, and let’s figure out your niche. You got this 💪 -Woody

@Ires Aponte I've heard that happens a lot on Skool! What is your niche? I've always been the same way, I want to help everyone! But I've also realized over the past few years that that isn't really as possible as I would like it to be because now I have a list of people who aren't ideal because they aren't even buying small digital products. So my niche has come to include people who are ready to invest in themselves in order to make changes!
🕵️‍♀️ The Antique Detective - a NewTuber Success Story
I want to take a moment to shout out @Debra Morra, one of the first NewTubers in this community. Debra joined this group with only a great idea for a YouTube channel and a willingness to learn and seek out help along the way. She had never made a YouTube video before, never edited, never made a thumbnail… but she didn’t let that stop her. Debra knew that YouTube was becoming increasingly popular for TV viewers, and channels that lean into the “TV show” style could have an advantage. She wanted to visit antique shops all over, meet with the owners, discover hidden treasures, and share their stories with the world. Debra reached out to me immediately after joining NewTubers and asked to book a call. She told me her dream for her YouTube channel, and told me which parts she needed help with. I was able to give Debra personalized help with everything from channel artwork and branding, to thumbnail design and help with titles, to sessions where we would edit videos together, and more. Every session was aimed at helping her learn and master the many core YouTube skills needed to grow a channel, and that’s exactly what she did. Just a few months in, and Debra has published 25 videos, gained almost 700 subscribers, and has already reached her 4000-hour watch time goal on the path to monetizing her YouTube channel. She has been uploading consistently, and stuck with one niche idea from the beginning, and both of these things have served her well on her YouTube journey so far. I invite you to join me in congratulating Debra on her progress so far. She’s really been killing it, and I can’t wait to see how far she will go! If you would like to check out Debra’s channel, “The Antique Detective,” you can find it by clicking here

First video in more than a month!
I had it on my short list to get a new video up today. A few things ended up taking up more time than I was expecting this afternoon so I wasn't sure it was going to happen but I made it!!

I have both! I haven't been super intention with promoting my Skool community in my actual videos yet, but I do have the link in every description. And it has gotten me some new members so I know I need to focus on it more (in the short-term plan!). Here's my YouTube. And my Skool community. My YT channel is a lot more geared towards YNAB (the budgeting tool I specialize in) tutorials. While my membership is my full coaching program, which includes YNAB but also your relationship with money.

@Woody Hill Ohhh that's a great idea. I do have a YNAB category freebie but that is available anywhere. I like the idea of something exclusive to my Skool community. My group is fully paid but I have the trial on so they could come in for that and hopefully stick around!!
