Day 3 Done!
The belief that's been holding me back most: "There goes another unproductive day." when I'm not motivated to do the tasks I need to do that I find so VERY and absolutely BORING. Where it came from: People telling me I'm wasting my day or I need to stop procrastinating. My new code: "Today didn't go the way I intended, but a hard day isn't a permanent pattern." OR "My capacity was lower than my expectations today. What friction stopped me?" OR "I didn't complete [X], but I survived a day of high mental friction. Restoring my baseline is still valid work." OR "Today is over, and I don't need to earn my sleep. I will set up just one microscopic step for tomorrow morning." My Future Self statement: "I am the kind of person who is capable of starting tasks, even boring ones, and is capable of completing tasks and entire projects." Debugging in progress...
Day 2 Done!
The mask I've been wearing most: Performance How exhausting it's been: After a day out in public or a full day of working at the computer calling through a candidate list, I am exhausted. I go home or walk out of my home office and can't do anything productive in the evening. The most I can generally eek out is heating up food or cooking a basic dinner if there are no leftovers and sometimes cleaning up after myself (sometimes this will get done the next morning. What I loved as a kid (before the masks): As a child I loved to run around the woods near the lake and explore, swim in the lake by our lake house or in the pool at home, ride bikes around the neighborhood with friends, bass fishing with my dad, doing gymnastics, going to amusement parks and riding the rollercoasters, going to water parks, playing with friends, playing boardgames/cards/dominos with friends and family, helping my dad with projects around the house, playing Nintendo and other game consoles, springboard diving, ice skating, playing billiards/pool, reading (when it was books I chose and liked). I was very active and I couldn’t easily wait my turn. When I was going from one place to another in the house I would often do flips on the floor to get from place to place. In my 20's I found a love for computer RPG gaming. Friction Audit complete, these are the exact steps i have to take: Phase 1: Getting the Cabinets Ready (5 Minutes) 1. Walk to the garage where the cabinets are stored and combine them all to one spot in the garage. 2. Grab a wet rag or paper towel. 3. Wipe off any obvious dust or cobwebs on the outside. 4. Open the cabinet doors and sweep out any debris inside. 5. Take a tape measure and measure the height of the cabinets. Write it on a piece of paper. 6. Measure the width of the cabinets. Write it down. 7. Measure the depth of the cabinets. Write it down. Phase 2: Taking Photos (3 Minutes) 8. Pull out your phone. 9. Open the camera app. 10. Stand back and take 1 straight-on photo of the front with the doors closed. 11. Take 1 photo with the doors wide open so people can see the inside. 12. Take 1 close-up photo of any scratches, dents, or defects. 13. Take 1 close-up photo of the wood grain/finish or hardware (handles/hinges).
Lindsay's Masks
I'm pretty sure I've used all of them at some point throughout my life...although class clown probably the lease. Throughout my life I have predominately been a Perfectionist, Overachiever, Controller, People Pleaser, and Caretaker. There have been occasions when I was doing things that I wasn't good at and I would use the Invisible One mask. Here recently I have slipped into using the Invisible One mask due to circumstantial isolation and am working to get back to being a productive human being.
A work in progress...
Hi everyone..I am pretty new to all of this. I am 66 and found out, just recently, that I have ADHD. It's been a total game changer for myself and a totally new understanding why I do what I do. Also, why my life has always been so Chaotic, Challenging and full of so many ups and downs. I really want to learn how I can create some structure and routines in my life. Just this alone would help so much on creating a life that would be richer and fuller.

Welcome! Best of luck in your journey. I was also diagnosed late in life and am just starting to understand myself and things that happened in my past. I used to have structure and routine when I lived with other people but am living alone now and am looking to regain more of that as well.
