Fellow Creators: Did You Know This About the YouTube Logo?
Did you know you need permission to use the YouTube logo or icon in your thumbnails, videos, or channel art? I’m a newer creator, and I recently did a deep dive into YouTube’s official branding rules—and wow… a lot of what I thought was okay, isn’t! I created a video to walk through the do’s and don’ts, based on my research. If you’re using the logo, or even a subscribe button graphic, it’s worth a look. It’s featured on my channel right now. Let me know what you think—I'm still learning too, and would love to hear your experiences!

@Mike Bayer Thanks for pointing that out, Mike—I really appreciate the thoughtful engagement. I did receive permission from YouTube to use the logo and icon in thumbnails for a series of YouTube Tips videos, and also to use the unaltered icon as my video watermark. I also submitted a request to use the branding elements when visually presenting the Do’s and Don’ts, so I believe that particular use was covered as well. That said, the purpose of this video is really to raise awareness. I was surprised by how specific the guidelines are, and I think many other creators might not be aware either. In an effort to focus on showing how to use the branding correctly—rather than drawing attention to common missteps—I’ve updated my thumbnail accordingly. Thanks again for taking the time to comment!

@Mike Bayer Thanks so much for sharing your insight and experience—it’s such a fascinating topic, and I’ve been trying to learn more myself. I actually sent a follow-up email to YouTube with a few additional questions about a month ago, but I’m still waiting to hear back. Like your partner manager mentioned, it doesn’t seem like enforcement is a priority right now. When I look at my own homepage, I’d estimate that about 95% of the thumbnails I see are using the logo or icon in ways that don’t follow the guidelines. And some of them are really beautiful, well-designed thumbnails! It definitely made me wonder how many creators are simply unaware of the rules—like I was—versus how many are aware but assume there won’t be any consequences. Either way, it’s one of those niche creator topics that’s easy to geek out on. Really appreciate the thoughtful conversation. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Congrats Alexa!
Greetings from Ontario, Canada!
Hi everyone! I'm excited to be here and to connect with fellow creators! My name is Lindee, and I recently launched my YouTube channel, Learn Create Grow, where I help people over 40 start and grow their own YouTube channels by sharing my journey of starting from scratch—and everything I learn along the way. I chose the name Learn Create Grow because it gives me the flexibility to expand or shift my niche in the future if I ever want to. For now, since I'm actively researching and learning these skills myself, I wanted to make them available to others who are on a similar path. I'm passionate about encouraging people to embrace their creativity, learn new skills, and build something meaningful—no matter their age. I also believe that in today's economic climate, having an additional income stream can make a real difference, and I hope to empower others to improve their quality of life through content creation. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you, sharing the journey, and supporting each other as we grow!

Amazing! Thank you so much for this opportunity. I’ll definitely share it in my next monetization video as one of my key learnings. I’m still new to Skool and learning a lot, but as a lifelong learner, this YouTube journey has been such a rewarding experience!
Winning!!!
I had to share this. When Andy came to me at the end of February, he was pivoting his channel and was losing subscribers. He wanted a clear strategy and to stop spinning his wheels. He didn't know if he should start a new channel or continue with the old. We stuck with his old and decided to revive it, why throw away 900+ subs. The ones that didn't want to be there during the pivot were leaving anyway. He has been working HARD & STEADY these past two months and learning a ton of new skills and software programs and solidly pushing through every obstacle. 🎉💪 I just want to show that it can happen. He went from losing subs to now gaining over 30 in the last seven days on his channel!! The journey: We had our first meeting together end of February, most of March we were testing what works, improving his presentation and value for the viewer, now we have found his groove (of course still testing always), but we know his audience and what they want. Now it's just consistency and steady improvements from here on out, so we can get this man monetized!!! So so so so proud of his journey and for those of you midlife and beyond, he is 77 years old and doing a fitness channel. So cool! 🙌 Why do I think he is succeeding? He is humble, asks for help, takes the feedback, makes the changes, tries harder each time, continues to ask more questions, learns and applies what he is learning. Every meeting we have and many messages in between, he is ALWAYS asking questions, seeking, trying, and taking BOLD, BOLD, BOLD action way out of his comfort zone. Some things he was hesitant about, but still did it. So proud of you Andy!! Let's go, go, grow!!! Excited for your future. Remeber everyone celebrate your wins, you are working hard for them. Let Andy motivate you to keep going!!!! 💖💖💖
