What Are You Working On Right Now?
Let’s do a quick check-in. What project are you currently developing or writing? A feature? Pilot? Short film? Web series? Drop it below 👇 and share one thing you’re currently working on. Also, what do you need help with right now? • Logline • Structure • Character development • Worldbuilding• Production planning • Something else? Sometimes one small piece of guidance can unlock the next step in your project. Share what you're building and where you're stuck — the community (and I) can help you move it forward. — Mel

Working on a series of short monologues and embodied stories
Character profiles & how they can help your script
Strong character profiles can help you tell a stronger story because they prompt you to understand your characters more deeply, beyond their surface traits. The most memorable characters feel real because they have specific wants, fears, flaws, history, and emotional needs. When you know who your character is at a deeper level, it becomes easier to write believable choices, sharper dialogue, and conflict that feels natural. A good character profile does not have to be long. At minimum, you should know who the character is, what role they play in the story, what they want externally, what they need internally, and what shaped them before the story begins. That kind of clarity helps keep your characters consistent and stops them from all sounding or acting the same. If you want help building stronger, more layered characters, join the Writer’s Room and bring your project to our next live session. It’s a great space to receive feedback, development insights, and support as you shape your story.

I have several lists of questions that I ask about my characters, depending on what I am creating and the depth of backstory required to understand motivation and behaviour.
Read Nominated Scripts
One of the best ways to learn is from screenwriters at the top of their game. Reddit user SC34N3 has compiled a ton of scripts. Find them in this Google Drive. Drop in the comments what you plan to read or are reading. I'm reading KPop Demon Hunters.

That is a great resource. Thank you. Is there an equivalent site for stage plays?

I am committing to finishing my book which includes finishing a manuscript for a stage play. These two components are part of a larger project.
