Well done Jacoba
Gift bundle🌼
Over the past few weekends I have made a collection of bags for my best friend’s birthday. We have been friends since we were born, and I wanted to give her something special for her 18th birthday. Before this little collection, I made that book sleeve (years ago) and then a simple tote, using Christine’s pattern, earlier this year. Needless to say, I didn’t have a lot of experience when I started this. There were a lot of mistakes made🫣 but it was all worth it. The tote bag is the Simple Tote pattern of Christine’s, but I added a lining to it. I struggled to find a sturdy material that is light yellow (my best friend’s favourite colour) so I opted for a lining to add a bit of structure. I also put a string of daisies (she loves them) around the top of the tote to add a little detail to the plain yellow outside. The little baggies is the Pyramid Pouches pattern of Christine’s. For this, I copied exactly what my mom was doing because she was also busy making these. The yellow material and lining is the same I used for the tote bag. Then I made these little bookmarks from a video that I saw. My friend loves reading (and with finals coming up) so I thought it would be a cute little something extra. I also used the same materials as all the bags. Summary of experience: Mistakes made - many Unpicking seems - 2 times Using incorrect seem allowance when stitching - 1 Bobbins needed replacing - 2 times (📌Note to self: always have extra bobbins when starting large(ish) projects) Urge (denied) to drop everything and start the next day - 2 times Little crashouts along the way - many Fun had - plenty Pride when looking at the finished projects - overwhelming Sorry for the essay🤭 I just wanted to share that even with little experience and many mistakes made, you can still create something beautiful🩷

Print and Tape PDF Patterns Without Losing Your Mind
Ever opened a downloaded pattern and thought: “I have to print, cut and tape HOW MANY PAGES?!” 🤯 It's enough to make PDF patterns seem like they just aren't worth it and are too much effort to use frequently. PDF patterns can feel overwhelming at first, but once you know a few simple steps, they’re actually really manageable. The idea of printing dozens of pages, cutting them out, and taping them together sounds tedious. But there’s a little hack I use that makes it faster and way less stressful: 🌟 only cut the corners when taping 🌟 That’s it. It keeps everything aligned perfectly and saves so much time! As a PDF pattern designer and someone who hasn't used a paper pattern in more than 7 years, here's my approach to printing and assembling in a way that makes it easy to re-use my patterns and saves time: ✅ Check the printing size first – Make sure your printer settings are correct so the scale of the pattern is accurate (print at ACTUAL SIZE or 100%) ✅ Cut corners, not edges – Only trim the corners when taping pages together. It keeps everything aligned and speeds up the process. ✅ Trace as much as possible – Instead of cutting the pattern pieces from the taped pages, trace directly onto a separate paper or tracing fabric. This lets you keep the original intact and makes it easier to adjust sizes later. ✅ Label your traced pieces – As you trace each piece, write the pattern name, size, and any markings directly on your tracing. ✅ Store for next time – Keep your taped patterns and your traced pieces in folders or envelopes so can reuse them without starting over. Once you get the hang of this, PDF patterns stop being intimidating. You’ll be able to print, assemble, and start sewing in half the time it usually takes to trim and tape those pages! And honestly, that little corner-cutting hack will turn it into a 10min activity and not a whole-day taping fest. Want to see how I do it in real time? >>>Watch How to use PDF patterns HERE<<<

Thanks @Christine Craythorne ,
NEW section added
Hi lovelies, I have added a simple START HERE section in the classroom. It's mostly easy to find links to the courses, but I've also added a PDF Downloads section where I'll put some helpful resources like the Sewing Machine Checklist and the Frequently Used Sewing Terms list. I love a one-page list or a quick cheat sheet 😆 GO TO THE START HERE SECTION P.S. Loads more PDF checklists and cheat sheets in the sewing courses! From different types of fabric to using sewing needles.
