Welcome!
Welcome in — I’m glad you’re here. Deduct This Life is for local finds, road life, dogs, small businesses, and real-life stories from Western South Dakota and wherever we wander. This group is currently rooted in Western South Dakota, especially the Black Hills / Sturgis / Rapid City area, but it is not just for locals. It is also for travelers, campers, RVers, dog people, business owners, and people who like finding the good stuff. Inside the group you’ll see things like: - local places, food, coffee, breweries, shops, and events - dog-friendly finds - RV/camping/road-life posts - small business visibility threads - behind-the-scenes content from Cheryl - occasional business-owner reminders and real-life money/business talk Local business posting: Local businesses are welcome to post in the designated threads. Please keep posts useful, clear, and not spammy. You are responsible for your own offers, pricing, availability, licensing, permits, hours, refunds, customer service, and event details. Quick boundaries This group shares local information, recommendations, and community posts. We do not operate, manage, guarantee, supervise, or verify third-party businesses, events, offers, services, or locations. If something looks interesting, check directly with the business or event host before making plans. Now introduce yourself, tell us where you are, and share one local find, road-life lesson, dog photo, or business you love.

Travel Tuesday
Let’s talk road life. What’s one place you’ve stayed, stopped, eaten, shopped, walked through, or accidentally found that other travelers should know about? Campground, coffee shop, bar, restaurant, dog-friendly stop, roadside attraction, small business, scenic pull-off, weird little place you didn’t expect to like — whatever made the trip better. Drop the place in the comments. Tell us where it is, what made it worth stopping for, and whether you’d go back.

I'll go first. We went over to Kickstands Bar & Grill Saturday night. It's just across the highway from where we are staying and it's also a campground. We haven't toured the campground yet and we didn't try the food yet. There was a band and I tend to enjoy listening to most live music. The drinks were high ($8.39 for a can of local beer) and the band wasn't great but I'd still give it another shot and I do want to go back and try the food. I also want to go on a nicer evening/day because it looks like they have an outdoor band venue as well as big roll up doors for the bar area. Few days ago I posted about going to Gas Monkey-Sturgis. I definitely want to go back and try the food. The vibe was great and the people were friendly. I do have to say that they say the south has hospitality but I've experienced the nicest people here in SD.

@Dawn Smith that sounds like fun. There’s a group of wild donkeys somewhere around Custer-I should use the term wild loosely as they love human attention apparently and you are allowed to feed them.
