Letโ€™s talk processโ€”your beautiful, strange way of getting words onto the page.
๐Ÿ–‹๏ธDo you โ€ข outline everything like youโ€™re laying railroad tracks through the dark, โ€ข wander sentence by sentence and trust the fog to part, โ€ข or follow a chaotic map only you can readโ€”arrows, fragments, half-notes in the margins? Thereโ€™s no correct answer here. Only the way your mind breathes when it writes. Some of us need structure to feel safe. Some of us need freedom to feel honest. Some of us swear weโ€™ll โ€œclean it up laterโ€ and never quite do (iconic behavior). โœจ Tell us which one feels closest to youโ€”and if youโ€™ve ever tried writing against your instincts. Did it unlock something? Or did it feel like wearing someone elseโ€™s coat? This is a parlor, not a podium. Pull up a chair. I want to know how your magic gets made.

So, Iโ€™m not quite sure I qualify to participate in this discussion, but oh wellโ€ฆ In my experience, Iโ€™ve done all of the above. Either in combination for a single piece of work, as well as separately. For me, it usually depends heavily on the piece of work Iโ€™m writing on. Regardless of how it is I go about writing whatever piece it is Iโ€™m currently doing, it always needs to be cleaned up after the fact. Though the only time I even attempt at cleaning it up is once itโ€™s all done, not to mention itโ€™s generally at the last minute. But what can I say, I like my chaos.
