Annual Budget
Have any of you created an annual budget? I am doing one this year. I started by writing out my saving and spending plans for the year and giving each a completion date.

Hi Dee, This year I created an annual savings and investing goal/plan so I can increase my savings rate. First I tried to figure out what my “gap” was monthly and figured out my annual amount available. Then I decided to assign a flat amount to my different accounts - work retirement, Roth IRA and brokerage. I primarily use index funds or ETFs but I have some hold over individual stocks (probably a no no for me). Finally I automated everything. But I have not done this for my expenses in such detail. Just have my monthly budget.
Why Picking Stocks As A Default Is Not The Best Start
Every new year, the headlines get louder:Inflation. The Fed. Elections. “Is now the right time?” When that’s all you hear, investing can start to feel far riskier than it needs to, especially if the only strategy you’ve ever seen is picking individual stocks. But here’s what most beginners aren’t told: The stock market isn’t just one strategy. There are ways to participate in the upside of the market while lowering risk, without needing to pick stocks or time the market. Read the latest Wealth Pack Newsletter in the classroom section for more.

Thanks for the video. This is exactly what I did when I opened my Roth IRA. I bought individual stocks and then I bought more companies a few years later. Although I didn’t do an any-mini miney-now, you’re it when picking the individual stocks, I’m not sure how much “fundamentals” I knew about the companies. But I heard you can take greater risks in your Roth IRA account once you have more knowledge and experience(?). Since then I primarily invest in index funds now. Thanks again for the video.

Congrats, Carol, for reaching level 3🥳. It is great to have a community where you can ask questions and learn and not feel like “I should know (or have learned) this by now.”

My intention
Hello everyone. My goal here is learning how to invest and retire by 50 years old.

Hi Ana, what a wonderful goal. You can totally do it. The Wealth Twins will show you how. Their videos are compact with information plus you have this community cheering you on. I’m like Regina, past that mark but hopeful and ready to learn more. I believe the Wealth Twins have a video where they said it is never too late to start investing. I’m leaning into that for encouragement.
