Learning a New Language as I Work with Claude-Code
I've been learning a new language without actually setting aside time to study. I've been doing it while I work. I set up a system where both Claude in VS Code and Grok Build in terminal automatically swap out certain English words in Claude's responses. They replace the word with the version in my target language, add the pronunciation and the original English word in parentheses right after it. So instead of just seeing the word "create", I'll see something like "tehdä (TEH-dah, create)". The key part is that I trained the whole system with proper linguistics and language learning material. So it's not just swapping words, it's actually teaching me the right way to say things and how to use them properly. The coolest part about this whole thing is realizing AI doesn't have to replace our abilities. It can actually help us build new skills we never thought we could develop while working. I'm not offloading my thinking. I'm actually getting better at something while I code. It's working way better than any language app I've tried. The language is slowly becoming part of how I naturally think. The next step for me is to start replacing whole sentences and phrases instead of just single words.
