Hi everyone. I’m very excited to be part of this community. My name is Lee and I am the founder of LaunchKids Academy. I’m developing a neurodiverse microschool in Phoenix, AZ, aimed at helping kids prepare for Kindergarten. Not just academically but also socially and emotionally. I’ve worked with so many children on the spectrum who get dropped into a school system that is not built for them to succeed. Most of these families have never been enrolled in any type of preschool and even if they attend a Head Start program prior to Kindergarten, it still does not supply the type of individualized care that I plan to offer. At the same time, the school system does not teach neurotypical students how to navigate the world with others who are not “like them” and all of the pressure is put on neurodivergent children to make friends and adapt to others. I’m building a program where everyone learns from each other and through play-based learning can become friends without the pressure. Thats what I’m most excited about. www.launchkidsacademy.com
