Thanks for taking the time to join SteeleSync and review our music last week. As a part of a multiple sync communities on skool, i've not seen a reviewer start scrubbing through a track so quickly. So when that happened i have to admit i got in my feelings and was pretty annoyed, and defensive. Tough pill to swallow, but i kept my ears open to what was said. Now that i am removed from the moment and have had time to process the critique, i understand the importance of a track being "visually" appealing as a wave file. I thought i put the track through a mastering process, but in fact i had not. So the visual wave on DISCO had flat spots that looked like no music was there. The takeaway that sits with me most is the reality of how EVERYTHING about a track has to be on point for a sync rep, or music super, to commit to listening to the totality of a track. Joseph talked about this in the critique. He took the time to search the "active" spots of the wave, but truth is most reps, and sups won't even do that. They simply don't have the time. So lessons learned. 1. "Don't discount the double check." (reference intended) make sure the track has completed all processes. 2. The visual appeal of the wave file is your first impression for music professionals who are about to listen to your music. Anyway, Thanks again

Letโ€™s talk about one of the most overlooked income streams in music โ€” Mechanical Royalties ๐Ÿ’ฐ ๐ŸŽต What They Are: Mechanical royalties are payments owed to songwriters and publishers whenever a song they wrote is reproduced or distributed โ€” whether physically (like CDs or vinyl), or digitally (downloads and streams). Think of it this way: Every time your song is mechanically reproduced โ€” someone has to pay for that copy. ๐ŸŽง Where They Come From: Streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) Digital downloads (iTunes, Bandcamp, etc.) Physical sales (CDs, vinyl, etc.) Ringtones and interactive streams ๐Ÿ’ผ Who Collects Them: In the U.S., these royalties are collected and paid out by the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) to the songwriters and publishers. If youโ€™re an independent artist who owns your publishing, make sure you sign up with The MLC so you donโ€™t leave that money on the table.
