A week ago I shot a fat 5 point whitetail buck- 18 yards through the heart with a Damon Howatt Hi Speed- a bow that was made in 1972 when I was around 4 years old. Itโ€™s the 9th whitetail Iโ€™ve taken with that vintage bow since I refinished it 9 years ago and with Muzzle loader seasons kicking off all week it was great to put some venison away. Shout out to @Kris Kok for helping me hang it up -and coming out to assist! ๐Ÿ‘Š Our youngest daughter played 4 competitive hockey games yesterday- went to school all day and still wanted to come help dad out processing the deer. Tradition, heritage, bonding whatever it is- sheโ€™s now deeply connected to it all. This is the 4th whitetail sheโ€™s skinned herself and helped me put into the freezer. You will notice in my writing books and articles I referenced the process above all else- and frequently mention that hunting relationship I have with my kids. Itโ€™s my favorite part of the hunting experience for me now- yes itโ€™s a task butchering but it seals the process for myself and kids as well. Accountability and the end state of hunting. Period.. the smile all says it all for me! Good luck to everyone out there still- and thank you for sharing your journey with traditional gear with our family as well! ๐ŸฆŒ ๐Ÿน No sights- No Problem - Grant

@Grant Richardson been super slow took my daughter out this morning with the .243 and had them in range but they were in the brush and before they could make their way to us a buck came in and bumped them off. Not bad action for the kids first deer sit.
Gun season
Gun season starts for next two weeks starting tomorrow in Pa. Weather is cold light snow and windy. Will wait till late week and head out with recurve in hand and orange vest on. Catch one slipping.

@Grant Richardson thatโ€™s awesome that she got close to getting on one.it has been really slow this year, I talked to the property owner the 2nd day of season and he said that someone killed 3 coyotes the day before so Iโ€™m not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
Arrow nock
On my recurve bow, I put a brass on my string for my arrow nock. It shoots good right where it's at. Open to suggestions.

Most of my bows I have setup with brass nock points and I have a few that have the tied in adjustable nocking point, I personally canโ€™t tell the difference in shooting with either of them so just shoot what makes you happy.
