The Leader Within with Mike Vick &Real Men Real Talk
Leadership isn't just about having a platform—it's about making an impact wherever God opens a door. This weekend at the Real Men, Real Talk event, I had the opportunity to facilitate a session with an incredible group of young leaders from across Ohio, connect with men committed to growth, and share resources through The Leader Within: Flawed but Called and God's Memo. One of the most powerful moments was hearing from Michael Vick and hearing his story of resilience, growth, and redemption. His journey is a reminder that leadership is not defined by one mistake, one decision, or one difficult season. Mike Vick was a leader on the field, but his story also reminds us that true leadership is developed through adversity, accountability, growth, and the willingness to keep moving forward. Flawed and all, he continued to grow, learn, and use his story to inspire others. And that's the heart behind The Leader Within. None of us are perfect. We all have moments, mistakes, and seasons that shape us. But our flaws do not cancel our calling. Our failures do not erase our purpose. What matters is what we do with the lessons, how we grow, and how we use our story to impact others. This weekend confirmed once again: people don't just need motivation—they need mentorship, community, and someone who believes in them. That's exactly why this community exists. The Leader Within isn't just the title of a book. It's a movement. It's about discovering who God created you to be, leading with integrity, growing through adversity, and understanding that your story can become someone else's encouragement. As you grow in this community, I want to challenge you to reflect: 🔷️What obstacle, setback, or season has shaped the leader you are becoming? Share your answer below. Let's encourage one another, learn from each other's journeys, and continue growing together. We are not just building better leaders—we are building people who will leave a lasting legacy. Remember: You may be flawed, but you are still called to lead.

Happy Father's Day from The Leader Within.
Happy Father's Day to every father, grandfather, stepfather, mentor, coach, pastor, and father figure. Leadership begins long before someone gives you a title. It begins with the lives you influence every day. One of the greatest gifts a father can give his children isn't money, success, or possessions—it's an example worth following. Children are always learning the "family business." Not necessarily the career you have, but the life you live. They learn how you treat people. They learn how you handle pressure. They learn how you love. They learn how you forgive. They learn what you value. They learn what leadership looks like by watching you. What you consistently model becomes what they naturally absorb. That's why legacy is never built in a single conversation. It's built through daily consistency. As leaders, our responsibility is bigger than providing for our families. We are called to prepare the next generation—to teach, mentor, encourage, correct, and empower those coming behind us. Real leadership asks: WHAT AM I PASSING DOWN? Not just a name... Not just a house... Not just a career... But faith. Character. Integrity. Wisdom. Purpose. And to every man who grew up without the father you needed: your story doesn't have to end there. You can become the leader you never had. God often places fathers in our lives through mentors, coaches, pastors, teachers, uncles, brothers, and faithful friends. Learn from them. Grow through them. Then become that man for someone else. Your past may explain you, but it doesn't have to define you. This Father's Day, let's honor the men who have faithfully led, loved, sacrificed, mentored, and invested in others. Because leadership isn't measured by how many people follow you. It's measured by how many leaders you leave behind. Happy Father's Day from The Leader Within. Called to Lead. Built to Serve.

“Leadership Begins With Being Led”
Leadership begins with being led. I heard this statement recently: "If God doesn't have the right to parent you, then you don't have the right to call Him Father." It made me think about how often we want God's provision, protection, and promises while resisting His correction and direction. A father doesn't just affirm his children—he develops them. The same is true for leadership. Growth requires humility. Development requires accountability. Maturity requires submission. 🔷️Leadership begins with being led. 🔷️Sonship comes with submission. 🔷️Question for the community: What's one area of your life where God has recently corrected, redirected, or challenged you—and how did it help you grow? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

For me, the Father really shows up in the moments I don’t naturally want Him to. When I’m told “no” to something I really want. When I’m corrected and I realize my thinking was off. When I’m heading in a direction that feels right to me, but isn’t right for me. That’s where the Father part becomes real. Because it’s easy to call God Father when things are going my way. It’s easy when I’m being blessed, affirmed, and provided for. But correction doesn’t feel good. Redirection rarely feels good in the moment. And yet, that’s still the Father’s role. A father doesn’t just affirm his children—he forms them. And I’ve come to realize this deeply in my own life: God often teaches me through my relationship with my children. He shows me how to slow down. How to listen. How to lead without control. How to serve without ego. So what I receive as correction from Him, I often have to give as leadership to them. And it’s not easy. But it’s necessary. Sonship isn’t proven in comfort. It’s revealed in correction. And leadership works the same way. If I resist being led, I will struggle to truly lead others well. This is the tension I’m learning to live in. -LT
