Welcome! Cheers to learning about the exciting world of mold!
Mold spores are quite literally everywhere. Being an inspection and mold assessment company based in Florida, it's something we deal with almost every day. However, many people who have moved to Florida recently since the pandemic are not familiar with our climate being considered the mold capital of the world. It's quite scary to new comers to think that every breath of air both inside and outside of their home, they are breathing in mold spores. I wanted to use my first Skool post to share some facts about mold and other microbial growths. The spores need the right environment to proliferate; heat, moisture and organic matter ( food! ). Keeping an area well ventilated and dry will help deter most mold growth. Not all mold is considered "black mold" and most can be quite harmless. Molds that grow in consistently wet environments tend to be the most detrimental to our health, such as Stachybotrys more commonly referred to as black mold. We track mold spores into our homes on our shoes, grocery bags, pet's paws etc so as long as we control our interior environment, we can do a lot to eliminate the threat of microbial growth in the air we breathe inside our homes. I know that we just started this page about 2 minutes ago and no one knows it even exists, but if you do stumble across this, please feel free to ask any questions about mold and/or home inspections or even feel free to share your own mold facts and help the community learn more about the microbial friends and foes all around us!

@Sean Hegarty hi Sean Kind of like your gif for most instances. In more severe cases we have to use full PPE. We also have to fully suit up if we are doing testing at an active remediation site. Most companies perform their own tests throughout their remediation process and then hire someone like me to come in at the end and verify they were successful with their work. Can’t risk tracking in particulates to their freshly sterile environment so we suit up with respirators and the works
