Is Skool the Right Home for This Group? Let’s Vote
I wanted to get your honest input. Right now, we’re running this group here on Skool, but I’ve been wondering if this is the best setup for everyone. I know every platform has its pros and cons and sometimes it’s just about what people already check daily, how the notifications work, or what’s easiest to pop into. And honestly, if this setup isn’t ideal, I’d rather find a different platform where we get more engagement, or even just keep connected through an email list. Let me know.

🎤 NEWBIE COMIC QUESTION 🎤 HELP US OUT!
Hey crew I’ve been noticing that a lot of people DM me questions about how to actually start doing comedy … and I thought that might something other people are curious about. So let’s break the ice.❄️ If you’re thinking about trying stand-up, or just curious how it works here are some common questions I hear: 👉 How do you structure a 5- or 10-minute set? 👉 How do you open a set and grab the crowd’s attention? 👉 How do you handle a joke that bombs? 👉 How do you work the crowd or handle hecklers? 👉 How do you even find open mics to perform at? 👉 How do you know when your material is “ready” for stage? 💬 If you’re a comic in here (beginner or seasoned), please jump in and answer ANY of these questions?? Add other tips that helped you when you were starting out. No dumb questions here. We’ve all been the “new kid” at some point. Let’s help each other out!

Berry College offered a TV production class back in the early 90s and Dr. Curt Hersey has threatened to digitize the footage of our amateur comedy sketch show. I would guess that the Little Dorm on the Berry Sketch was the most successful parody I participated in. Mostly we made fun of the TV we were raised on. I suggest visiting Rome, Georgia, head north to Mount Berry and take a left, get past the security gate, hunt down Dr. Hersey and ask him about the footage of the campus safety officer cuffing him and slamming him onto the hood of a car. He might ask you to hang out and watch the episode he directed. Or maybe just sign up for a class at the admissions office.
🚨 Thursday Wake-Up Call 🚨
Alright team — real talk for a second. A group is only as good as the people in it. And that means YOU. 👈 If nobody’s posting, nobody’s learning. Nobody’s laughing. Nobody’s connecting. And honestly... what’s the point of keeping this group alive if we’re not going to use it? So here’s your nudge:👉 Post something today. - A question - A tip - A funny story - A win - A fail - A random thought - Just POST. Break the ice. Shake things up. That’s how this group gets better. Let’s go! Who’s first? 👇

I recently discovered that Atlanta now has a Tim Horton's. If you visit, be advised that there are rules: https://youtu.be/yJ0HZam3UJo?si=zFhJVPS-FTRf_wWd
🎉 We Just Hit 100+ Members! Now What?
When I started this group, I wasn’t sure if anyone would show up… maybe me and a couple of buddies talking about stand-up and 90s sitcoms. 🤷‍♂️ Fast forward to today — we just rolled past 100 members and growing fast. 🚀 I want to do something special to celebrate this milestone — but here’s the thing :👉 The group wants YOUR ideas, (otherwise this community won't last) What would be fun for us to do as a crew? ✅ Zoom comedy night? ✅ Prize giveaway? ✅ Special merch drop? ✅ Roast me in the comments? 😅 Drop your ideas below ⬇️ — let's make it fun for everybody!

Zoom comedy night but you have to find an open mic night and keep your cell phone in your shirt pocket with a hole cut out for the camera so you could possibly have as many as 16 point-of-view shots of audiences on screen at once. And maybe one person sitting at home with just their microphone on telling bad jokes while their friend heckles them from a couch on the opposite side of the room. Maybe trivia contests. "What was Richard Pryor's first movie role?" "Who wrote the theme song for Diff'rent Strokes?" "What are the lyrics of the second verse of the Cheers opening credits song, or the WKRP ending credits song?"
