Hi, I'm Snehal 👋
🌍 I'm currently based in San Diego, CA 🚀 I’m a Software engineer with over 5 years of experience and a Master’s in Information Systems & Technology. My sweet spot is building clean, accessible, and performant apps using React, TypeScript, and Python 🏋️ Lately, I’ve been actively job hunting, sharpening my skills with coding challenges, and exploring the full stack to round out my experience Honestly, I’m finding it tough to get past the application stage and into phone screens. If you’ve been through it or have advice, I’d love to connect and learn from your journey

Hey Snehal! I know what you mean, I was there. But in the end I stopped applying ( at least stopped using job boards ), it became better after I optimised my LinkedIn and started being a bit more active there. During July I was managed to get about 7 initial screenings, 5 were from recruiters who reached me in LinkedIn. I am applying from time to time if I see that the opportunity is really interesting

@Snehal Chaudhari I will reach you out in LinkedIn)
Newcomer!
🗺️ I'm from Kansas City, KS 💪 I'm a software engineer (3+ years) who is also doing dataops engineering (wanting to go back to full time SE) and I am full stack - Love frontend but also enjoy backend. 🏋️ I am great at soft skills/interviewing but I struggle at the technical aspects of interviews. I've always struggling with Leetcode or technical-based interviews. Excited to join the community!

Hey! how are you preparing for leetcode or tech interviews? Asking out of interest, I am struggling with the same, will appreciate any take on this

@Jordan Villacorta hey, I checked pramp, seems like a good idea if you want to get some real practice or check some real questions, thanks!
Resume review
Hello! I have recently joined the community and would really appreciate any feedback on my resume, any notes, improvements, or anything else. I aim to optimize the job search and find gaps in my understanding of how it works. Thank you! I recorded a Loom video https://www.loom.com/share/71a890d4347240c280ec7e399d6f3bf1?sid=2ee5e2cf-62f2-415e-a84d-0efd111b589b And I am also attaching the resume itself

@Nate Hobi Hi Nate, so grateful for such a valuable feedback! Thanks for you time and I will probably add some more thoughts on this a bit later

@Nate Hobi Going back to the strategy you’ve proposed, I think this is the one that works and that is more or less predictable and clear the only thing is that it takes time. I would still try to apply for ai engineering positions, but after preparing a really good project and trying to network with people from the targeted companies, if this is still not enough these yeah, I need time to prepare better and will target big tech. The thing is that I am just tired of a job for the sake of a job, so my ideal variant is not to waste time on it anymore. But I know the reality don’t care about my plans, so let’s see how it goes :)
Hello, I am Kseniya!
I am in software engineering for 5+ years, previously specialised on web development, but for the last 6 months I was focusing on NLP. I like different things like photography, reading, cinnamon rolls:) I am searching for a job as I have recently relocated to the USA and hope to find some relevant information here, so nice to meet you all!

@Nate Hobi I am located in Austin right now, but is going to relocate to SF soon. I think I am good at diving deep into the details when needed and having experience in both web development and LLMs might be a plus (but I also believe sometimes it's not what companies would prefer). I am also developing a small technical blog right now, which I believe could be useful for those who are learning ML. Looking forward to create and share a quality content as I believe a good learning materials is one of the key point to succeed.

@Nate Hobi Thanks! These are steps I found helpful: 1. Math ( https://www.youtube.com/@3blue1brown ). Linear algebra, calculus, probability theory. 2. Get a super good understanding of transformer architecture https://www.youtube.com/@AndrejKarpathy/videos . Not only watching the videos, but building the transformer yourself without libraries, everything from scratch helped a lot. 3. Then I read the fundamental papers like “Attention is all you need”, backpropagation, BPE tokenizer, scaling laws 4. Getting some context helped a lot. I was reading this and googling everything I don’t understand, trends, optimisation techniques, companies https://www.stateof.ai/ 5. Communities. I personally love this one (Cohere Labs) https://discord.gg/Puw6Nffk. They can help a lot and they have a lot of free events where they are talking a lot about ML and latest research.
