How is your dog at the vet?
One of the common things clients tell us is their dog is terrible at the vet. The dog is “perfect” everywhere else but not there. My question back is usually “well what are you doing to prepare your dog for success at the vet?”. Are you working on touching and grabbing random areas, look at teeth and ears, accountability during the ride there and in the waiting room? What about leverage their obedience while in the exam room? Dogs can be successful at the vet but it’s up to us to set them up for success! Are you struggling with the vet? Let me know! Want other tips? Let me know!

Bella is pretty nervous at the vet as well, she growls and tries to hide behind me. I found that if I walked over to the tech and handed her off she did much better. With my technician experience they also allowed me to hold her, which worked out nicely. Hera on the other hand has to go to back away from me, unless I am the one restraining her. She is a bit of a basket case. I have started using her training aides in more situations with greater success. I appreciate all the help I've had with learning to use them.

Stop chasing the cats into the Xmas tree or under the couch. (Getting better)
Dog bed
Hello, So I need a suggestion for a dog bed for Bella, well the dogs in general. Akira, last foster, chewed threw everything, even a K9 'buller proof' one. Bella chewed the soft bed. (Currently watching for a foreign body, again). Do you have a bed you use there. Also, I have am mpact crate, do you have a suggestion for something I can put in the bottom to deaden the noise for Bella? I'm afraid to try anything.

A day on the trails where I don't have to step off trail for every person passing by.
Intro of my pack
Hi everyone My name is Kristin. I work with a rescue for Belgium Malinois and they get all sorts of dogs at all levels of training. I'm here to learn how to better support the fosters I bring into my home. A little background on me. I was a veterinary technician for 34yrs. I spent 10 of those as a technician in the Army, where I worked with the military police canines, the Secret Service canines. They had 95% Malinois and I fell in love with the breed. The rest of that time i spent in emergency medicine and as a surgery technician, before I retired. When the chance to foster came up, I jumped at it. So that's me in a nutshell. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I possibly can here. Thanks

I am a retired veterinary tech of 30yrs. I worked along side the military working dog handlers early in my career and fell in love with the Malinois.
