One Sentence Check-In…
In one sentence, tell us what made you fall in love with children’s books as a kid and which book you still remember most and why.

It may have started with read-along books and tapes, but I also have fond memories of the time spent reading and borrowing books at the local library. Other than the Bible, which, of course, is the most important but for all ages rather than just being a kids' book in particular, I can't say which book I really remember most, since there were always so many books surrounding me. I do remember receiving at least one entire box of books from a great aunt who was more like a grandmother to me. Since her kids were too old for them, and she didn't have any grandkids of her own yet, I inherited a whole slough of them, and I'm very grateful for the love this gift expressed. I know I didn't manage to fit this all into one sentence, but it's my true story, and I'm sticking to it 😁
✨ Today’s challenge…
In one sentence, write a book idea where an unexpected object becomes a child’s greatest friend. (Example: A lonely crayon teaches a noisy chalkboard to make music, helping two kids create the brightest art show ever.) 👇 Drop your one-sentence story idea!

A book becomes a child's escape from a troubled life, when he or she disappears into its pages and enters the world of the story and learns how to deal with life by the time he or she reaches the end of the book and is returned to the real world
Where are you in your children’s book journey right now?
Let’s make today’s community stronger by learning about one another. 👇 In the comments, tell us ONE of these: 1. Your writing stage (idea / first draft / editing / stuck) 2. Your biggest win so far 3. One thing slowing you down right now Example: “I’m drafting chapter 2 and feeling excited but stuck on character voices.” No need to be perfect. Just share what’s real for you today.

I get to a point and then get distracted by a combination of uncertainty of what should come next, and the presence of so many other projects in my mind and in various stages of writing and pre-writing

@Zack Bush the problem is I know how to structure a good plot and where I want to end up, but not always the steps I want to take to get there
A quick reset question for writers tonight…
Quick check in before the day ends. If you stripped away publishing, money, and validation for a second and wrote purely for impact, who would you be writing for right now? A child who feels unseen A parent who feels overwhelmed A kid who needs confidence Or maybe your own younger self… Comment with just one sentence: “I would write for ______ because ______.” No overthinking. Trust your gut. I’ll reply to all of these personally.

I would write for a parent or Christian teacher who wants to use fantasy and imagination to instill Christian values in their kids. The stories would be written to the kids but marketed to the parents and teachers, and with supplemental teaching materials available directly to the latter

@Zack Bush yes, the stories should reach the kids with their sense of wonder and imagination, rather than coming across didactically
