Fuel Prices & Pricing Jobs; What’s Everyone Doing?
With fuel prices rising again, I’m curious how everyone is handling their pricing right now. Are you: • Pricing jobs based on the last fuel price you paid at the pump, or • Sticking with your existing pricing and taking a hit on the margin to keep clients happy? If this situation drags on for months, what’s the plan? Are you thinking about: • Gradually increasing your rates • Adding a fuel surcharge • Renegotiating with regular clients • Or just absorbing the cost for now? Would be really useful for everyone in the network to hear how others are dealing with it. Drop your thoughts below 👇

Important update regarding fuel costs that can be sent you your customers. We always work hard to keep our prices stable and fair. Recently, fuel costs have risen significantly, and this has increased the day‑to‑day running costs of our vehicles. Rather than reducing the quality or reliability of our service, we will be introducing a small fuel adjustment to help cover this increase. This allows us to maintain the high standards you expect — punctual deliveries, careful handling, and consistent communication. We’ve kept this adjustment as low as possible, and it will be reviewed regularly. If fuel prices drop, the adjustment will be reduced or removed. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Your trust means a lot, and we remain committed to providing a dependable, professional service every time.

@Nilesh Gohil The deeper impact of writing like this When people find your insights useful, three things happen quietly in the background: • They start seeing you as a trusted source. • They come back to you when they need clarity. • They share your advice with others, which spreads your reputation. This is how leaders build influence without ever trying to “sound” like leaders — they just speak truthfully and helpfully.
Who else is sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring?
I'm currently working on a plugin to automatically generate blog posts to bring traffic to www.DeliveryQuoter.co.uk so I can bring the leads into our network. What is everyone else doing to bring in the deliveries? Please share your ideas and systems to benefit our members who are struggling with generating leads.

Sitting at home feeling frustrated when all you want to do is get out there and earn money can be draining. My advice is simple — get yourself signed up on all the available platforms. Some will be better than others, but you’ll never know which ones work for you unless you try. That’s exactly what I did, and it does work. It increases your chances and brings in more opportunities.

Third party apps
When using a third-party delivery app, what should you do if you arrive at the destination and the app stops working — it just keeps loading and nothing happens? This has now happened to me twice. On both occasions, I rebooted my phone, but even after 20 minutes the issue was still the same. It’s especially frustrating when the delivery is time-restricted. Thankfully, I still managed to deliver on time, but it’s not ideal and puts unnecessary pressure on the driver.

The "I'll just do it cheap to get my foot in the door" trap
How many times have you heard that one? Or maybe you said it yourself early on? The theory sounds reasonable. Undercut the competition, prove yourself, then raise your rates once they trust you. The reality? They never let you raise them. You're locked in at rock bottom doing the same run six months later, wondering why you're working harder than ever and still skint. The worst part is that it devalues the work for everyone around you, too. Some drivers swear it worked for them and built a solid client base. Others say it was the biggest mistake they ever made, and they're still recovering. So what's the honest answer here? Did pricing yourself low ever actually pay off long term, or did it just teach clients to expect cheap? Would love to hear from drivers who've been in the game a while on this one.

Small companies, competition can feel relentless. In industries like delivery services especially, margins are tight, expectations are high, and customers often compare on price first. Cheap isn’t always good. Price gets attention — but service earns loyalty.

@Nilesh Gohil The simple is question how long can one person charge £1 per mile (Example) before it become unstainable as costs go up every year with fuel goes up more through the year than down, and wear and tear on the vehicle.
Looking for Delivery Work in London?
Looking for Delivery Work in London? If you have a car or van and you're struggling to find work in London, consider signing up with Gophr. I recently signed up myself, but the available jobs near me are mainly around Oxford, which is too far for me to travel. However, there appears to be plenty of work available in London. To sign up, you’ll need: - Hire & Reward (H&R) insurance - Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance - A DBS certificate If you're already set up with the right insurance and documentation, it could be a good opportunity.

@Tsvetomira Petkova - You can either work for them for work as a subcontractor where you are responsible for your own tax. In Bedford there is very little work from them. I do get screw fixit occasionally. After a couple of job it will give me a feeling of how the company is like.
