I’m Kiki from Taiwan, and I currently live in San Jose. I work for an advertising company in China, so I usually use Chinese at work. There are many Taiwanese and Chinese people in San Jose, so I rarely speak English with native speakers. After I started taking a pottery class here, I realized that I’m afraid of making small talk with other people in the studio, and it really bothers me. I think it’s because I’m not confident about my grammar. Even though I know they don’t really care, I still want to be able to talk to them.
